Keep up the good work Admin
IMO opinion a major change that affected the board (with veteran members anyway) was the change in ownership. Hundreds of us had met the original founders or at least Tomas and considered him a friend. We shared good times in the gulch, knew he was passionate about CR and the board which motivated many of us to contribute to help the site succeed. Now we have no idea who owns or admins the site and their lack of communication makes it appear that they really don't care about your concerns. It is a shame to lose current info posted by non VIP guys on the ground in MDE, one thread was 71 pages long. Consensus is it's either a smart business move or a dumb one that will cause even less participation.
All the speculation and arguing about what's best for the board, profits and bandwidth is interesting, but why wouldn't an admin take 2 minutes out of their busy day to make a post on this topic that affects so many explaining their actions and settle things down? Their silence is deafening, "good work" my ass!

Not really; can't agree with you entirely, Paco - it a question of supporting something you are using, not to put too fine a point on it - what changes the board was some retiring, getting old, getting out of the hobby, not traveling to CR, discovering other places, whatever.
Wit asks:
Is CRT what is was in it's heyday? No. But is it still a valuable resource for information and travel discounts? That is a resounding YESYou have (in addition to the "Good old days" syndrome where by every thing past is remembered with fondness; I was a member and before that a reader of the board) - not every thread was golden, believe me
I seem to remember many in fact that degenerated into homosexual activity <not really, just on line>....I think

) that would have made an 8th grader blush - and while some of the threads and posts were funny, much of the banter between you, the late Florida, and Spanky went down the 'ol hershey highway
Due to the fact its not the cheap paradise it once was - less old drunks retiring to CR than in years past - the guys of the "Irish Drifter" generation who retired to San Jose are fewer and fewer (along with the gringo bars catering to them - The Nashville, the NY Bar, JoeB's and Karens, and so on - they were supported by a demographic that does not exist in the numbers it did).
I'm a big believer in the old saying "This too shall pass" - I don't expect non VIP's to stop posting, and I predict they will not. And if they do, others will post in their stead.
The question is not "who owns the board" (although you are welcome to have any problems with the current Admin's you wish - and while I don't always agree with your views, I think you are sharp enough to make an educated guess on who does own CRT) but rather should those who are frequent posters be paid members. To me is a basic question of fairness - even if it not required, I think most know the right thing - or, conversely, do the opposite of what you are currently doing
In my view they certainly should.
It is also irritating and insulting to hear the reasons given for not financially supporting the board - and when you run out of reasons, regardless of how weak they are, just get all "chippy" and threaten to take your toys <your posts and knowledge in this case> and go away - my prediction......not likely.
