The short answer: YES. Sounds like you had a good deal. If she was a real hottie that rocked your boat, you did very well for yourself. But to K*D yourself into thinking she is not also doing that with a number of other dudes is not smart (sounds like you already know this). Admit to yourself that she is a Del Rey puta. She is. This is what she does for a living. When you are not there, she is taking two or three guys a night up stairs. She is spending the night with one of them almost every night, just like she did with you. You are not that special to her....a little bit yes. But not much. She may have several others that feel the same way about her that you do.

The deal I worked with Cristal was just an understanding that I knew what she did when I was not there, and did not question it. I knew she needed money and I knew how she got it. However, when I was there, she agreed to ONLY be with me. That worked out fine until I got antsy and wanted to do other chicas at the same time....and she found out.

It is generally NOT a good idea to develop a relationship with a Del Rey chica. they may seem sweet and lovable at first, but eventually they are ruined by the experience of working there. They lose all emotional honesty, and get way too good at faking it. Then....after awhile, they stop faking it, and turn into bitches. They start taking advantage of you. That's when you KNOW it's time to move on.

I believe that after a period of time screwing a non-stop konga line of gringos, they develop resentment towards us. They really start to dislike us, and dislike what their life has become, yet they are trapped like crack whores and can't get off it. Those are the hard core chicas we always try to avoid in the Del Rey. Unfortunately, it happens to almost all of them, in time.

Guard your heart. Love them, but don't fall in love with them. They are not like normal girls. Eventually, it will always end badly.

Now, if you find a real chica that does not work at the Del Rey, that is a different story...but one for another time!

Honestly, I don't think it matters that much. However if it matters to YOU that she is exclusive to you when you are there, you kinda have to play by the same rules. Why would she agree to see only YOU, while you are seeing and taking pictures of other chicas? There is some unwritten chica code about that. I know I violated it with Cristal, and it soured our "relationship." (I use that word loosely).

My advice is to think about moving on from this "thing" you have with her. She is a Del Rey puta and is never going to change. There is NO long term future in it with her. If you want to see her when there, have a blast, but this "exclusivity" arrangement is bound to disappoint you at some point in the future. Why set yourself up for that?

Dear Astro,
I was just kidding about the 'high season' & holidays. When she disappeared for the 2 hours, I'm 100% sure she took the elevator. I spanked her as hard as I could and tried to put it behind me.
The night she left at midnight, her pnone was ringing every 15 minutes. She said it was her k*ds, so when she asked if I would mind if she went home, I thought it was a good idea. After the 2 hour gig, I realized that she probably had a gringo who was calling every 15 minutes.
It is stupid to get mad at such actions. She is just doing what she does. She is not trying to hurt me. It is just an opportunity to make an extra $100. I did hear a rumor that some of the girls at the BM are prostitutes. Could that be possible?

Dear Astro-

I adore her k*ds-4 boys from 3 to 9. 11yo lives with father or near him. Last week when my taxi pulled up, the 3 & 5 year olds were yelling my name. I wish the mother was as excited to see me but you know how that goes.
There have been 4 or 5 times that I gave her $150. She didn't ask for it. I wanted to give it to her. This brings up another "Dear Astro".
I've been to her home a few times. I see what the k*ds have, what the home is, the general lifestyle, how much food is in the kitchen ect.
My point is, 2 trips a week up the elevator would pay for everything I see.She is totally drug free so that can't be it. I'm sure she doesn't contribute to an IRA or 401k type plan, so where is it? Most all of what the k*ds got for Christmas was what I gave them. Her mother is an 8 bus away so if it was because she was supporting her, I'm sure she would be closer.
Does lifestyle have anything to do with how many trips up the elevator?

My recent FGE claimed, believably, that she only worked enough to pay the bills at the end of the month.
I met her on the last weekend of a month, and she never asked for money, but she sure did make sure I knew how much she 'needed' by the first. Her numbers added up right, and her sense of desperation sure seemed real.
It may have been a good act, but I don't think she wants to work any more than she has to.
That gives me insight into the wonderful GFE experiences we get here.
They rationalize each "john" as their possible saviour.
So then: Are they ruined by the ho experience, and therefore can't ever be a 'good partner'?
She sure knows all the ho tricks from the other girls, and always has another story to tell. Sort of like a Tica (oral) forum to counter this one.

Astro, thank you for being true to your journalistic ethics and refusing to allow unfounded rumors to infiltrate your column.

Think of the innocent chicas whose reputations could be permanently scared by these unfounded and mean spirited rumors.

I have a very good chicas friend who has told me in all honesty that the only reason I see her in the BM so often is that she goes there to practice her English. That makes a lot of sense to me; where else would she meet so many people who speak English? Some of the gentlemen she meets are business men and are kind enough to take up to their room so she can practice interviewing for a job in English. She has told me these practice interviews will help her get a good job in San Jose so she can support her sick mother and 10 brothers and sisters. In the mean time I chip in what I can to help financially.

SB: Most of the chicas I have met live day to day, with NO concept of money or savings. They wait till their rent is PAST due to worry about it, then run out to the Del Rey to get the dough. I wonder what they do with their money also. Some of them must be bringing home a nice chunk of change, but have little to show for it.

I do think they blow a LOT of money on clothes. I do think a lot of them blow a ton of money on their cell phones. Many of them can't pay their huge cell phone bills and have them turned off. I think it is a "live for today" mentality. I think you are right, that they are one trip up the elevator away from paying some of those bills, so they develop this "don't worry, be happy" attitude. They know if they ever really need money, they can get it.

For that reason, I caution you against sending her cash when you are not there. You should tell her, "you need money? Go back to the Del Rey. " She is working there anyway. You should be paying her for services rendered. It's not a good idea to pay her for nothing, when she is out screwing other guys for money all the time. I only say this so you don't look back at this, many months later, and realize you were being scammed all the time. If she was not working at the Del Rey, I might think differently.


Regarding the living conditions of these chicas:
I have visited 6 or 7 Chica homes....some were working girls, some not. The conditions vary greatly on their circumstance. Cristal had a nice apartment in an apartment complex in Calimar. It ran her about $200 a month. Nice by San Jose standards. I also visisted another apartment there were Cirstals Prima Patricia lived with two other Del Rey chicas, Mirabelle and Joellie. It wasn't bad, but nicer than most ticos apartments because they could afford it with their Del Rey cash.

Kayse lived in a shack with a tin roof down a rutted dirt road. So did Helen. Helen's little shack had a dirt floor in part of it. She lived there with her baby and sick mother. Kathryn lived with her mother in Alajuelita in a tiny apartment. It was clean enough and decent, but when I asked to see her bedroom, she said she didn't have one and she slept on the floor. That was the same fate for Super K when I visisted her barrio in Alajuela. She lived with two older chicas in a dingy one bedroom apartment. There were two beds, but three chicas, so Super K slept on the floor. She has since moved into a much nicer three bedroom palace (thanks to me)...and of course she now has her own bed, that sleeps two (or it will when I return). I also visited in the home of my shoeshine buddy Andres. He actually had a decent place, although it was in the barrio and there were K*ds and people everywhere, and flies.

But they don't really know any better. If the chica has K*ds, the conditions are usually worse. I don't know why that is, but many of the K*ds are raised in poverty. It can be depressing. I am glad you donated the toys for the K*ds Christmas, Scubabum. You are a kind and decent human being. It is so sad that all they got was from the generosity of one of their mom's "hombres."

Some of them hear stories of chicas swept off their feet by rich gringos. Hey, maybe it could happen to them. Those are the chicas I love to hang out with, opposed to the hard core putas that have given up hope and just want to scam me.
