That's exactly the point. You -- and the other mongers you referenced -- lived here. Your window of opportunity is faaaar greater than someone going down to SJO for a week. Impossible? Of course not. Probable? Not likely.

Try going to Quito, Lima or Tegucigalpa for a week, go out to regular clubs, and attempt to pick up nonpros. I'd wager you'd get as far as you would get if you attempted the same feat in South Beach or Buckhead.

I hope you are coming to conduct business or on vacation with non-mongoring friends. If it is just to hang out and pick up non working girls... you are waisting time. The only exception is if you have a local who is a friend.

I have been to several parts of Mexico & Colombia. When I would go with gringo friends and we tried to pick up girls it was hard. The times I had a local business friend on the trips... wow I felt like a piece of meat. One time the business owner called a friend and 5 girls showed up... all to meet me and take me out on the town.

I understand the thrill of the chase but when there are limited resources of time involved... better go with a sure thing. Especially when you consider after you buy the rica and her friends drinks, etc you will probably spend more on that then the working girl.

If this is an ego thing... good luck and I understand the reason/thrill.

Within 24 hours we were talking marriage!! 3 years later I realized that though she was considered the leading skin specialist in Colombia, all she really wanted was a meal ticket to the States; and by that time she had cost me my entire savings and then some.

Point of all this: If you want to just come here for a week or two, visit a lot of night spots, drink and party, "welcome to Costa Rica"!!! If you want to do all that and get laid-plan on it being with putas unless you are very, very, very lucky. The fact that you said you cannot do the Latin dances makes meeting a chica in the clubs even more unlikely-as I said most are there to dance and have a good time with friends; not to meet a gringo and get laid!! Here it is extremely rare to see a chica in a club by herself; she will almost always be in a group of friends.

If you're a young good looking guy who is good with women back home then you have the potential to score with women anywhere. The exception might be a Muslim country or somewhere where religion is very oppressive. Not many women will risk a stoning for Justin Bieber.

I agree that you need to be able to communicate on some basic level. Most moral women back home don't start the evening with the mindset of going out, having a few drinks, and letting some strange guy have a one night stand with her. But it does happen, and often. The Ticas are no different. I would even say that being a Gringo gives you a huge advantage.

Some say that it is hard to pick up Ticas because they go out to bars in large groups. Who says you have to pick up Ticas in a bar? My very first trip to CR, I went in to a hole in the wall souvenir shop beside the Presidente and the sales Tica asked me if I wanted to go with her to El Pueblo that night. Now I guess she could have been a part time pro, but my point is that there are opportunities to meet Ticas outside of a bar.

Despite what I have written, I agree with the board to stick with the pros. Your time (and money) is too precious to waste on a non pro even if she does give it up.

Don't arrive with your fangs showing and the horniness drool dripping down your face and chin because your arriving with blue balls.
