8ball: Oddball, not everyone needs CRT discounts.

Last time I noticed this was a free board with many many informative posts and serious questions, with the occasional idiot like you adding perverted comments like yours in this thread.

So since you seem to be interested in the homo thing, go suck a dick.

Now that exit tax is up to $28 or $30 or whatever, I am curious to know what if you were flat broke for whatever reason, would they prevent you from leaving? How?

Also, are there other countries that have this rip-off scheme going? If CR had it as an entrance fee, I'm sure people would add this to their travel $$ equation.

I always wondered myself if someone gets ripoff, and had no money. What would happen, US embassy? I doubt they would help. Western Union $$ to MasX Menos . A brother monger? Years ago when I was in Jamaica a couple did not have the departure tax which was collected by Air Jamaica at the ticket counter, I paid it for them 11$each. Gave them my business card and they mailed a check a couple of weeks later.
There use to be an 'exit tax booth" at C.R. immigration , I haven't seen it for a while.
Its my first priority is purchasing the exit tax at the bank and locking my passport in the safe.
The hotels that do sell the salida tax add a couple of bucks to it.

There are now so many banks and hotels where you can pay your exit tax the lines at the airport have for the most part disappeared. I believe this is what led to the doing away with the sales booth in immigration and the second sales area at the east end of the terminal.

In my 30+ trips I have only seen once more than 20 people in that line and as far as costa rica goes that line moves with lighting speed ......I never seen the need to buy the tax early

Years ago when in college went to Nassua and 3 of us lost all are money at the casino. We couldn't pay for our room with was $10 a nite for 4 nites now that is $40 between us. So early Sunday morning when the knock on the door came we went out the window. It happened to be Easter Sunday now the 3 of us are running though a crowd going to church and the guy chasing us.We panhandled at the airport and got the $12 each I think it was and the hell out of there. We asked at the airport and they said SOL at the airport if we didn't have it. Now I buy mine at the bank across from the Morazon along with some colones.

Thats a good one Buzz. I will have to get you to tell me more about that trip. I was at the airport waiting to be called for my seat as Delta clears you about 45 mins. before flight time. You have to wait close to the check in counter . A college age gringa comes up and said she over spent her budget and would give me a massage for $ 20.00 . I declined the massage but gave her the $ 20. If my daughter needed help I would hope someone would do the same. It is a good honest question and I bet it happens often.

I agree that is a good Question. My first trip here in 2000 I had no idea about an exit tax, but usually wakes us up. This board is for good information by all of the members. Flying a CR flag dose not make you a better member.

I give people money all the time. If they use it for booze or exit fee, I don't care.

Everyone says don't do it, they are scum etc. But I have been in bad situations and the kindness of a stranger made a terrible situation good. It was such a huge relief.

Usually you can tell if they are for real or not. If not just give them a dollar or two or nothing.

I gave a guy 100 dollars once because he was in rough shape and stuck on his bicycle far away from home. Needed a new wheel and tire to get home. He was pushing a bike with 50 pounds on his back with a messed up rim and busted tire. He cried and told me he had prayed to god the night before to somehow get him out of his situation and he had sat there all day and no one even stopped. So he knew god had heard him. He did not ask for 100 dollars, I just knew that 10 dollars was not going to fix his bike.

Easy on 8ball, pretty sure it's a joke. Ha ha.

It does show that you are a guy who financially supports the board. Is a financial supporter a better member than a guy who does not lend a hand? I know my answer to that question. Don't expect it is the same as yours.

Seeing how Hangman (aka CVCap/Super Moderator) agrees with you I will not argue the point. :D :D

A poster on this free board also contributes by providing useful info or good questions. The membership fee is for CRT discounts and access to photo's or other info. Not everyone needs discounts or needs access to photo's. The board does need good posters.
