Yes, I would agree that you are being overly paranoid. How's it different from any other bottle of liquor in a bar? It would be easy for bartenders to tamper with any bottle of liquor behind the bar, although unlawful and counterproductive.

Especially if you are cheap or piss off a chica?

Just about any bar which serves hard liquor has “buggy bottles.” Unless there is a cap which closes over the spout, insects of all types will seek the aroma of the liquor. Sweet liquors are the most prone.

Once they get into the bottle they cannot get out; they fly around until their little wings give out where upon they become the “buggies” of the “buggy bottle.”

It is interesting to hold up an otherwise uncapped hard liquor bottle, put a high power flashlight at the bottom of the bottle and see the insect particles. Sometimes there are identifiable pieces other times the insects have dissolved into a cloudy blob near the bottom of the bottle.

 I'll drink to that. Bottoms-up!

i didnt stay at SL but talking with a CRT member who did i believe the deal was after 3-4 drinks you could have bout a bottle of rum and made 8-10 rum and cokes. does this sound right? definitely a good deal at SL also always a nice idea to have a stash in the room for parties. someone mentioned in a thread SL also has one of the few CR microbrews ... any further intel? once sierra nevada comes to CR i may have to look for an apt there, and maybe a job.

Say Bill, is this limited to local booze or could I get a bottle of Jack Daniels set up for a decent price?

Any bottle purchased at SL. We do serve Jack at the Lodge.

Thanks,

I've bought bottles from the SL and had them keep them behind the bar with my name on it. Never had any problem. Saves me a lot on my nonstop rum and cokes. Now that I'm moving there in five days (woo-hoo!) I'll certainly be keeping a bottle behind the bar with my name on it.

Learn to drink local and you'll save a lot of money. I've grown very fond of Nicaraguan Rum and it saves me a tonna money when I'm there (Flor de Cana)

I would definitely ask for the bottle price at the bar first. I assume due to import taxes and difficulty of importing, prices vary wildly from what you might be used to in the states. I have noticed that the vodkas (Smirnoff, Stoli) are comparable to average liquor store prices where I live, but some of the other liquors were about 30 - 50% more. Just ask first so you know for sure.

SR

Yeah, no doubt. :)

Just not a rum drinker. Too sweet.
