one thing i noticed more this time than any other is that food and goods are getting way expensive. the local mas e menos is at least as pricey as any grocery store in so cal.
that and the decline of the dollar v the colone is making it rough all over costa rica.

I'll second that! Granted, it was kind of a 'dump', but I liked the place. I liked its proximity to the DR. I met my current favorita there a couple of years ago (yes, there was an occasional 'diamond in the rough' to be found there).

I saw this, too. Food is freaking expensive in San Jose.

Personally, I found Greengo's cogent assessment of the current morass in CR to be 'spot on', as the Brits would say.

I am still thinking about purchasing the former NYB property and opening a souvenir store. I don't think there are enough souvinir shops in that area of San Jose.
What do you think?
