TFG this is my last winter.

I hear you T but those Canadiens will always have us beat. -22F goes thru all clothing. Maybe it could be used to freeze ball sack hairs and you can just break them off like icicles, no shaving needed. But thats another thread. :D

You phuckers don't know what cold is. Back in the '70s, I used to go to work in northern Vermont when the temperature was -35 to -40 without the wind chill factor. With the wind chill, it was about -80 to -90 some mornings. Even colder than International Falls, Minnesota. Many nights it was -25 to -30. Don't tell me how cold Chicago is (or Canada for that matter).

That's cold, all right. Today where I live, it's about -20 C (-4 F). It usually doesn't get that cold too often over the winter. It's worse because I'm just back from Philippines, was very warm there.

These are the kind of temps that drove me out of Milwaukee in the early 80s and are driving me out of NJ now (tonight's low here in South Jersey will be 9 degrees).

I've had enough of 4 seasons to last me a lifetime, along with the great heaven;y dandruff... Brrrrrrr....

That's why I moved as far south as I could, but still get temps in the 30's at night... Can't wait till I move a little further south, somewhere near the equator... :D

Sorry bud....weather records do not support your claim. -80 to -90 wind chills are a particularly silly claim. And I doubt any official temperature has ever been -40 in Vermont or Maine. You only get that kind of cold a long ways from any ocean...as in the central plains, or a long ways north. North Dakota/Montana certainly gets -40 once in a while. But rare there too.

What weather records did you check?

Coldest reported temperature Maine......... -48 on January 19, 1925 at Van Buren, elevation 458 ft

Coldest reported temperature Vermont...... -50 on December 30, 1933 at Bloomfield, elevation 915 ft

Thanks ID for pointing that out. In fact, I worked about 30 miles from Bloomfield, a small town on the NH border, near Canada. I stated that some mornings the temperature was -80 or -90 WITH the wind chill factor. Without the wc factor, it was about -45.

Vermont or Maine might get cold but they are mild compared to a winter in North Dakota or Manitoba. The average winter temps in Vermont or Maine are significantly warmer than North Dakota or Manitoba. Winnipeg has the distinction of being the coldest city in the world. Thank God for hockey! :)

Winnipeg is cold all right. I was there only once, but it was so cold the radio was saying that exposed skin would freeze in 2 minutes.

I believe Brother Devo is mistaken. According to the last list in this Link, it doesn't even make the top 5 (not that that's a competition anyone wishes to win):
