A win-win deal. Costa Rica gets the revenue that was being spent in Nicaragua or Panama and the 'tourist" save money and the pain in the butt of leaving the country.

So basically, Costa Rica charges ex-pats $1.11 per day to live there.

Only those who choose not to acquire residency or prefer not leave every 90 days. No one is forced to take advantage of the program.

It's a lot cheaper than flying somewhere and a lot less hassle. I hope this works for me the next time I don't want to leave.

I went to immigration in La Uruca yesterday to see about paying the $100 for another 90 days. Talked to the lady at the information office and she said NO, I can't pay $100 to get another 90 days. She said I have to leave the country for 3 days. She told me the new law won't take effect until sometime next year. I probably should have tried to talk to someone else also. I probably would have gotten a different answer.

In what has increasingly become an era defined by pandemonium, rancor, and blind ignorance, one stabilizing voice emerged from the din this year to soothe the souls of CRT members everywhere, make us recognize the common decency that binds us all, and supplant the poisonous aura of fear and chaos with a simple, well-thought-out message of peace, prosperity, and reconciliation.

That man is CRT member and syndicated commentator Greengo.

In 2010, Greengo's quiet words of humility and reason have touched the hearts of all CRT members, healing countless wounds and elevating the level of our national discourse. Indeed, Greengo's stunningly eloquent writings , inspiring posts, and astute observations reassured every CRT member that we are all joined by the same ever-beating heart of kindness, and that gentler roads lie ahead if we could all just settle down, lower our voices, and focus on solving the actual, meaningful problems of our world together....such as all the thieving Nicas, worthless Ticos and the general fucktard population of CR.

For in these troubled times of rising unemployment, political infighting, anger, and persecution, CRT needs a man who can put the issues in perspective and bring us comfort; a man who cares not about race, creed, sexual orientation, or party affiliation; a man who sees beyond petty political maneuverings, emotional exploitation, greed, and opportunism; a man who encourages all of us to disregard the ceaseless clamor of ideologues and think for ourselves; a man who sees beyond his own ego and cares only for what is good and right and just. In short, it needs a man like Greengo.

Thank God for Greengo and all he has done. After all, what would our board be like if not for him?

I am a Perpetual Tourist and will probably remain one for years to come.

I treat Costa Rica the way I treat Six Flags or Walt Disney World. I'm just visiting, for as long as I can. I don't care who is President or if they are constantly robbing the coffers so they can't even keep the lines painted on the streets to separate the lanes.

I do the least I can not to engage here so I don't even have a bank account here.

If you allow it, this place could send someone over the edge.

Well it seems the immigration issue has taken ANOTHER turn. One of the guys who told me about the $100 solution has been rejected when he returned for a second issuance of the coveted stamp As far as I can see the Legislature doesn't even have it on their agenda,so the boys at immigration may be left alone to decide our lives on 90 day intervals.
