In Nov 2006 I was alone at the Cafe Mundo around 5 P.M. when a blonde gringa woman around 45 years old came in and sat at the table next to mine. She ordered a glass of wine and she seemed very disturbed and agitated. She then turned to me and said she had just had a bad experience with a taxi driver. She claimed he took her on a long ride and demanded an exorbitant fee that she was forced to pay. I felt sorry for her and paid for her wine even though she had not asked me to.
Later at the SL bar some of the brothers said she had been there too and the bartenders seemed to know her. Seems she tries to bum a drink if she can but is not blatant about it or hustles aggressively
I never saw her again.
Could be the same lady with a new approach in a new location outside the DR.

No, that wasn't Sandy you encountered. Sandy is about 55 years of age and has been using the same M.O. since I started coming to CR in 2004. The thing about Sandy is, "she just works too damn hard at it." You see her around the Del Rey/NYB area from early afternoon to late in the evening, just about everyday.

yes, she does have a good pitch...but haven't some of the CRT members gotten some kind of charity organized for the poor in CR?

don't they have an annual holiday drive here on the board?...a legitimate one

Its true, I gave her money and 15 minutes later she was 2 blocks away eating and drinking. She's nice and acts concerned, but she feeds off us dumb gringos and the thing
that bums me out is she forgets who your are from one week to the next. I never look at her or give her money anymore.

I am really sorry to have touched what is evidently a very raw nerve with you Prolijo. I was trying to be funny though the use of sarcasm but obviously my comment wasn’t funny at all.

John was sitting outside his local pub one day, enjoying a quiet pint and generally feeling good about himself, when a nun suddenly appears at his table and starts decrying the evils of drink.

"You should be ashamed of yourself young man! Drinking is a Sin! Alcohol is the blood of the devil!"

Now John gets pretty annoyed about this, and goes on the offensive.

"How do you know this, Sister?"

"My Mother Superior told me so."

"But have you ever had a drink yourself? How can you be sure that what you are saying is right?"

"Don't be ridiculous--of course I have never taken alcohol myself"

"Then let me buy you a drink - if you still believe afterwards that it is evil I will give up drink for life"

"How could I, a Nun, sit outside this public house drinking?!"

"I'll get the barman to put it in a teacup for you, then no one will ever know."

The Nun reluctantly agrees, so John goes inside to the bar.

"Another pint for me, and a triple vodka on the rocks", then he lowers his voice and says to the barman "and could you put the vodka in a teacup?"

"Oh no! It's not that Nun again is it?"

Great joke Cfd...Mary makes her living hustling dollars for herself. I gave a mil when pleasantly happy at the NYB. She is good. However, I did go to dinner with her daughter, and she is cute and sexy.
