This is one of the reasons that I no longer post. The liberal mindset that has taken over this site.

I'm not an avid fan of Limbaugh but I certainly do my research. Apparently many of you do not. That statement was tongue n' cheek. I don't give a shit what he does and wealth envy does not guide my life.

And BTW, it is a fact that if they pass this horrible Obama care, a number of clinics and hospitals will be made affordable to those in off shore services who want to escape government run health care. Certainly a monetary boost for CR. For those of you on Medicare....beware.

I'm truly amazed at the naivety of many members on this board.

Respectfully,

I think that the news media is questionable at best. I call what they do creating historical fiction. Reporters take facts and build a story – not necessarily with factual information – with the primary end goal to create an entertaining or provocative piece which increases ratings and thereby sells advertisements.

The secondary end goal is disseminating current events; not necessarily important events which actually have meaning and impact people’s lives. If you want real news, the News Hour on PBS is a start.

But the popular news media focuses on current events – who wore what to the Oscars. How could anyone possible give a sh*t?

Often the newsmedia creates news stories about network programming and the program is on their own television network. That is simple self promotion and blantant advertising not news. They pander to that which interests people at their most basal human level – and that level doesn’t appear to be a very high standard.

The Rushman is doing what has made him a multi-millionaire: pontificating, bloviating and blustering.

One thing about him is that he is up front about not being a newsperson. He is a disseminator of opinion – his opinion. And he makes no bones about that.

Too bad the so-called “news” media aren’t that honest. Especially when they go after businesses which they don't like.

And they exploit some obscure law which no one cares about except the bureaucrat trying to screw with the businessman -- a hard working guy who creates jobs and make the economy work. Maybe I am rambling too much. But I think everyone recalls the "shut downs" from last year and what the newsmedia did in that effort.

I do appreciate such as Mr. Limbaugh if for no other reason than to keep the other side honest. You need all sides of issues to be aired and I decry the mindless shouting-down as much as you do. It just seems there is no calm debate and no consensus about anything anymore...and I don't know whom to blame. Who exactly stole civility and what is the price for its return?

Off shore healthcare is being promoted by American insurance companies. I know because my dental insurance company, Metlife, paid for extensive dental work I had done by Dr. Rodolfo Hernandez in San Pedro. He is American trained, as are a lot of Costa Rican doctors, and one of the very best dentist I have ever been to. As for Limbaugh, he is an entertainer and should be viewed as such.

I agree with the comments about the media, but for real news I turn to BBC America on occasion.
I also think that one must listen to liberal and conservative talk shows in other to get a full picture about what's going on in the world. We are all smart enough to sort out the bs if we listen to all sides.

Let me get this straight... a 'liberal mindset' has 'taken over this board?' Huh? Taken over in what way? You mean that people to the left of you have the nerve to disagree with you? They have the nerve to voice their opinions? They don't just keep their big mouths shut when right wingers state THEIR opinions? If that's what you mean, I guess you are right.

I try to avoid political arguments for a lot of reasons, especially because THIS is not the place for it. Secondly because I have never seen an opinion/mindset changed, right or left or wherever. But if you want a place to voice 'conservative' opinions without any fear of contradiction, I suggest Free Republic or Red State:

http://www.freerepublic.com

http://www.redstate.com

If it bothers you that you may have to run into mongers who disagree with you politically, that's just how it will be until Glenn Beck gets his way and liberals are dealt with appropriately, whatever way that may be. Get over it.

^ yeah thats exactly what i'm saying
i suppose i could go back and dig up all the mean spirited name calling such as the second post in the thread but i think i'll spend my time doing something else. i have no desire to change anyones opinion.
and i really don't care for rush, but...
if i had made a comment like " good for rush we can use a guy like that in CR"
it would have been followed with a bunch of off color comments full of hatred. and thats just typical internet bb's not just here.
and thanks for the uber right wing links. i know by having an opinion that differs from you i am the sterotypical neocon.

If you see hatred in my post, get your eyes checked. You know I think you are a stereotypical neocon? When you get your eyes checked, have your psychic powers checked too. I bet they are off the scale for telepathy.

Just another reason why even the mere mention of politics - political views - opinions on the aforementioned do nothing but to start trouble among people who are normally very cordial to each other.

This is the reason why Politics and friendly discussions don't mix and why the minute anything like this starts I know that within days this topic will have to be either heavily moderated or simply locked.

GENTLEMEN IT IS CLEAR once again politics and CRT Don't mix - there is nothing positive coming out of this thread & I ask that all of you simply stop adding fuel to the fire. This goes out to nobody in particular just my sentiment that nothing to go gain here but friendships being hurt.

SO with that said MOVE ON or I will lock this thread and eventually delete it.

No need to listen. This quote is taken directly from his website transcript of his show on Monday March 8, 2010. Not hearsay, not distorted by the press or any other spin you want to put on it. It is in the official transcript of his talk show quoted directly from his official website.

RUSH: I don't know. I'll just tell you this. If this passes and it's five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented, I am leaving the country. I'll go to Costa Rica.

Not sure what "research" you did to determine that statement was tongue n' cheek.

I think he meant it emotionally (or as an actor/entertainer?), not to do in practice.
Like Alec Baldwin when he said he was leaving the country if George Bush became president.

Well,I am not a fan,nor have I listened to his show in the last few years(in the 90s I did),but he is a born entertainer..

I watched a movie once...called "The last supper" I believe...Cameron diaz very early in her career..but they would invite people to the house and poison them if they were not as liberal or empathic as themselves...they thought of themselves as making the world a better place.

Eventually they ran into the "Rush" of the movie(played by Ron Perlman IIRC),and after dinner conversation they were split on whether to poison him or if he was in fact providing a needed service to the world by presenting the opposing viewpoint and making people think.

So they decided not to poison him...but during all of the arguing he figured out what was going on and switched the carrafes of wine...and poisoned all of them...

Anyway...good movie and apprapo(sp?) of nothing.
