Do I detect some latent anti-semitism? Last time that I checked the US was ruled by its own citizens, who elect their public officials.

The larger point is that US expenditures on Arab oil grossly exceed any foreign aid that we pay. And unlike with most of our oil suppliers, our aid recipients are LOYAL allies who do not fund or harbor the terrorist groups that are dedicated to our countries destruction.

Well, I'll keep this really, really short. Anti Semetic, no. That is a really broad stroke to paint. So, not even close. As for it being utter non sense, this is the second time I've been accused of being a bit of a loon. I'm a big boy and can take it. If anyone wants to discuss it in private, I'm open. CRT is not even close to the place to discuss these topics. So, I humbly apologize to Admin for posting politically directed posts. My previous comments and basically this whole thread have little to nothing to do with CR or hobbying. The truth will set you free as they say.

OUT OF THIS THREAD ENTIRELY.

Although I have only posted one time to this forum I have read it for quite some time. It saddens me to see a lot of anti U.S. rhetoric and bashing from a number of members on here. Yes, I have problems with certain American policies also but I am not short sighted, therefore I look at the things this country has done positively for Central and South America, as well as over a hundred countries, over the last century.

Some of you have apparently found happiness living away from the U.S. and that's fine but I wonder how many of you would vow never to return to this country for the rest of your lives. I've lived and traveled many years abroad but have always called this country home and will to the day I die. No country in the world has given the amount of money, support, scientific technologies and blood stained lives to aid other countries than the U.S.

Yes, I've bitched about a number of things politically but I love this country. That may sound a bit like flag waving to many of you but I challenge you to "pick a better country" considering it's achievements and contributions to this planet we call earth.

I very much appreciate your sentiment Muledick. I can only speak for myself but any criticism I have for my country is exactly because of the love and respect I have for it. Also for knowing what our potential is I feel it's each of ours patriotic duty to express verbally and otherwise when we (usually our leaders) come up short. Not to express these things negative though they may be only invites tyranny. If everyone had a "my country right or wrong attitude" incompetent or nefarious leaders would have a blank check and be totally unaccountable.

I couldn't resist.... but, this is the my feeling also. Sometimes I come off as unpatriotic or otherwise. But, I'm here for better or worse. Right now, no one can say it is in times of "better."

True patriotism is not repeating the senseless mantra " we are the greatest" which is a form of masturbation.
True patriotism means questioning EVERYTHING, holding leaders and corportations accountable and holding the land you love to the highest possible standards.
No matter what happens I will stay here for the duration because I love it too much to leave forever.

Time to open some Monroe Doctrine up on'em. Follow up with the recasted likes of William Walker and his Freebooters. Recall Oliver North and re-read Confessions of an Economic Hit Man by John Perkins for added pointers.

I was really tempted to unload on this thread...then I remembered, this is not a forum for us to voice our various political points of view (which will only divide us). Instead, this is a board for sharing of our common interests.

Feliz Navidad, bros.

I think there will be a great change in the near future in the way the rest of the world sees the United State of America. How quickly things moved from 12 September 2001, when everyone in the world was American, to open hostility and what appears to be hatred of the U.S.; to the Russian Navy thumbing its nose at the U.S. knowing full well there is precious little we can do.

Americans lost the moral high ground and our military, which has done an extraordinary job fulfilling its role, is stretched, tired and needs some R&R.

I really don’t think the world disdains Americans. Sure, there will always be some anti-American thoughts because the US has long been the most powerful nation and the leader of the world.

When Britannia ruled the waves, there was plenty of anti-British sentiment, particularly around the year 1776, in and around New England down through the Carolinas; in India around 1946; and so on. When France, Spain, the Hapsburgs, and so on were great powers they all had their detractors.

If you want to read about dumb things that government leaders have done down through history, take a look at The March of Folly by Barbara W. Tuchman. It is a classic and fairly easy read.

Whether or not the United States retains its primacy as a world leader is in great doubt. But don’t count America out. The Constitution is one of history’s most amazing statements on governance.

The American people have an incredible work ethic and have about had enough of the nonsense that has been going on for the last decade. Things are going to change and for the better.

By following good leader, I think that America can regain the respect we once held worldwide. Few people can criticize the selections the new President-elect has made.

If the main criticism he is getting comes from gays because a Bible thumper is going to say a prayer or women because they think they are not well represented, then the Predient-elect is doing very well.

We can restore the confidence we have in ourselves as citizens of a nation of good people and good actions. People worldwide dream of having what we have, citizenship in the United States of America.

Try saying the things we say on this thread in Cuba, mainland China, North Korea, Iran or Saudi Arabia. You can't because the government controls the internet and would not even permit a site like this.
