I just bought a new computer... And I don't want it to get bogged down with crap.. So I plan on keeping everything on an external hardrive and just putting things on the computer as needed. Anytime travelling can just put the basics on the laptop. Then nothing to worry about. Small airports are great... I'm sitting in Pensacola right now and the people here are a lot friendlier than the major airports.. Get into immigration around 9, which I have always found more favorable for some reason.

Guys,

Can I make a modest proposal? Leave the Laptop home. I am utterly baffled as to why so many people feel they just can't live without a PC for 6 or 7 days. I go to the beach in New Jersey and see people typing on Laptops and Blackberries instead of enjoying their vacations.

Some of you younger guys probably aren't going to believe this, but there was a time in America when we actually were able to have fun, interact with others, and enjoy life without having an imbilical cord attaching us to an electronic device! Believe it or not, a lot of people actually read books!!

I once actually saw a guy hiking on the Appalachian trail typing on a Laptop! Unbelievable.

I'm fairly computer literate and on a PC 2 or 3 hours daily at work, so I'm not anti-technology; but when I go to CR I have other priorities.

Ask yourself if you can't do without that "millstone around your neck" for a week. (Apologies to El Ciego who has a special situation).

Now my camera; that's a tool that I regard as abnsolutely essential in CR!

Perhaps these guys are not on vacation but at their "virtual" office enjoying the beach in NJ (give me a freaking break  ) the app trail, or CR while working untethered to an office or a desk. They have freedom provided by the technology of today.

Honestly if you spend 2 to 3 hours a day on your computer only at work you are not connected to the techno world of today. You are a dinasaur.

But hey u do your thing and let me do mine.

I agree with you 100%. I fish a lot, & it makes me cringe to be standing in a river with other anglers around & hearing someone's cell phone ring. I won't own one of the damn things. When I go to CR, I check email every other day, but that's it. I don't want to be fooling around on the internet in CR, there are much better things to do.

And before anyone calls me an old fart, I'm only 43!

That's one of the beauties of "offshore" fishing. You're out in the ocean too far for any cell towers to reach you !!!! :P

Here ya go, MG, we don't want you to miss that important call from your Colombiana telling you:
1. The money transfer didn't come through.
2. Her Bi-sexual GF just got into town and they're waiting for you.
3. The STD test came back POSITIVE!
4. She PREGNANT!

LOL !!!

Actually, it's kinda coincidental, as this is the exact Sat-Phone that I own! But it's for emergencies only. I don't even turn it on, unless I need to make a call!

Besides that:
- my money transfers ALWAYS go through!
- I've already boinked her bi-sexual GF!
- The STD test results must be wrong!
- It can't be my bambino. I got "snipped" many moons ago!!!!!
