Last year there were two Mother's days. Or at least it seemed.

YO Holidays:

Old Circus is not into the holiday scene anymore.....perhaps with one exception being Veterans Day and that one has lost it's luster to the last couple of generations. Sadly for many people, holidays are a cheap fix to avoid true responsibilities such as work and also serves as an excuse to keep up with one's peers in seeing how much you can spend, show off or out do your neighbor or friends.

For some including myself, certain holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving and Mother's - Father's day are accompanied by sadness due to the loss of loved ones that we will never again have the good fortune to be with. Yes, they are a reminder of yonder years but as one grows much older, the loneliness often outweighs the memories of people so dear.

Over the last five decades the respect for family togetherness and appreciation for the simple things in life have deteriorated immensely. No longer is there an unanimous feeling of giving or sharing. Instead, it is what can one get or take away from someone else.

Holidays......just a print under the numeral on the calendar. Sadly, they have voided their importance to me. I do hope that some of you can revive their validity.
