Personally I do not think on a board as young as this one anyone can lay claim to being a legend. In my way of thinking legends become known as legends after years and years of being recognized for outstanding achievement in their chosen field. In fact their legend grows larger and larger as more time passes between when they accomplished their "legendary" achievement and when the story is told.

I think perhaps you're right about this board being too young to really have any real legends. OTOH, our little community has seen its share of quasi-"legendary" characters come and go over the short time the board has been around. To the many relative newcomers on the board, some of those characters are essentially just unverified stories (to them at least) handed down in the great oral tradition. So perhaps there are a few that might be considered legendary, or at least potential future legends, particularly if you extend the allowable candidates to include some from the board's "pre-history".
I also think you emphasized the wrong part of that definition. Instead of focusing on the modern interpretation, you should have emphasized the primary definition that was given:
Quote:
1. An unverified story handed down from earlier times, especially one popularly believed to be historical.
Note: it doesn't really specify what constitutes "earlier" times. Does that have to mean from the times of King Arthur or is the nearly 5 years ago that this board began early enough? And what about the term "living legend"? that seems to suggest to me that legends can be contemporary. The other key part of that definition is "unverified story handed down". Most of what we know of each other is by means of what someone wrote or what we tell each other over cervezas down in CR. Usually, its not something we witnessed ourselves, hence those stories are often essentially unverified. Last point, you should note that there is nothing in that primary definition that says the legend has to be about a POSITIVE "outstanding acheivement". Just as a Hitler or Ayatollah Khomeini can be Time Magazine Man of the Year, so can someone be legendary for doing something NEGATIVE of note.
With all that said what would my nominees be? Personally, I wouldn't focus on legendary PEOPLE, based on a body of work (definition #2), so much as I would on legendary incidents, which may or may not be associated with a particular person. So here they are (in no particular order):
1) Badabing and the infamous "Soprano Discount" - this one being a negative legend and one that actually predates the board but in many ways was an instrumental factor in this board even coming about. It is also one which many of the old vets know about, but which most newbies have only heard of if they know about it all (hence an unverifed vague story)
2) Drunk Bill and the Park Hotel Oil Show. Not really an legendary individual or incident so much as a legendary instituion or era when a truly unique and unusual show was available for CR mongerers. If you don't like this one you could add or replace it with with other once popular SJ mongering institutions that are now no more such as Arte's Sauna or Peliqueria Bikini (a barber shop where you could supposedly get more than a trim, which I never was able to find)
3) Astroglide and his self-titled "GFE Guide". He was mainly a legend in his own mind who, as later events would prove was probably the last person to give lectures on how to play the chicas, so I hesitated to include him. But those subsequent events, which I'll entitle "Crystal's new braces" and "why to always be careful around a jealous chica armed with a pen", qualify of as legendary events of negative note. And what finally got him banned from the board was so bad that we can't even mention it here, making it unverifed vague story that qualifies as legend.
4) Rolltide's "Trainwreck" - perhaps to recent to qualify as a current legend but destined to be a future legend or should be. Again, for all we know it is just an unverified story and certainly parts of it are made up. OTOH, true or not it is already a classic example of an instructive fable that should be used by future generations of mongers of what not to do.
5) Circus and his novia "Huggy" - many vets have met "her", but most newbies have just heard of "Huggy" if that. This along with Circus's other "body of work" easily qualify him IMHO at least somewhere in our list of legends
6) Mexpat "Living the Dream" - again predates most of the more recent arrivals to the board. This was a classic series of posts that highlighted the pleasures and the possible pitfalls for anyone considering relocating to CR
7) DonGordo - I can't think of any single legendary incident or particularly significant post, but this guy has been going there from practically the beginning and has become practically a CR institution. For those, who may not know it the CRT anniversary party is an annual event that really grew out of an earlier tradition of the "Don Gordo Birthday Bash" which occurs around the same time of year.

I'm not sure who to credit these to (maybe someone could help me out), as there have been many versions, but there was somewhere the "original" that was created by someone. I'm referring to the "Magic CD" and the "Gulch Walking Tour"
9) The appearance of "The REAL Man" on BM TV and his epic battle with the collection of Trolls that took over CRS (you know I had to nominate this guy in here somewhere

)
10) Admin1 for showing us how to build a great community and Rico for showing us how to let one be destroyed.
I limited myself to an arbitrary 10 but if you asked me tomorrow I'd probably come out with an entirely different list. Here is a link to a similar thread from 2 years ago where I came up with what I think is still a pretty good list:
