Ironic too that most cops when they see you live here and have been driving for more than 3 months, they get all serious and tell you that you must have a CR license if you are driving your own car for more than 3 months.

Ijust renewed my CR DL on monday, in the new offices in Pavis. Took all of 10 minutes. Had to do the physical thing for 6 Mil and pay the banc 15 Mil. My first license was good for only 2 years. This one expires in 2012. For me it is a good idea because when the policia check you for something, they assume you are a resident and seem less apt to rip you off.

Is this a joke? I would assume many fail this course.

This is not a joke it is factual:

There are people you can hire to take the requisite exams for you.

As far as the physical stuff goes cant you just "donate" to the test giver to check you off and avoid wasting time?

Just curious.

As far as a "safe driving course" I wonder if taxi drivers moonlight as instructors on this one...

Not worth the effort or expense. Medical exam takes 5 minutes and cost 5000
colones. Why pay someone extra for that?
