Altho I was traveling with a chica, I did not see anything like the gulch in Panama. Yes, prostitution is alive in the massage parlors and some hotels, but not nearly as developed as in the gulch.

I do not pretend to know what the P4P situation is in Panama, but I do know that our beloved gulch is a world class p4p destination. Probably in the top 5, certainly in the top 10 in the world.

What is the definition of Mojo? Is it the P4P scene only? Or are we talking about the CR experience as a whole? I would have different answers depending on what EXACTLY is the definition of mojo.

Yes...although I dont partake in P4P here, it is very alive and well. Went to Habano's Cigar Shop which is a cigar shop that at night doubles as a cigar shop with Colombian cigar holders...quality and quantity was decent...dont know on pricing. Although my friend had a taxi deliver an "Angel" to his room for $150 TLN. Lots in the casinos as well...saw about 20-30 at the Royal Casino in the Marriot, but again...don't know about pricing.

I was referring to the C.R. experience as a whole, but there appears to be a ripple effect into the P4P scene also.
IMHO the girls seem to be more hard core the last 3-4 yrs, It seems C.R. is becoming more and more westernized. In the DR and KL I use to be able to find a girl just working one or two nights a week ,a good GFE, now its the same stock night after night , pure hard core.
One of our group came back last month from 12 night stay, he was relating a story about a girl from the KL, she told him, "gringos are rich but they don't want to pay $100 they think they're better than everyone else."
This was after they were in his room and agreed on $60, he told her to take 40 and get out. He was generous. I keep reading about negative experiences with free agents, while there is still somewhat of quality service at NF and Zona.
Again my friend who just came back from living there for 6 months, says the welcoming attitude of the Ticos in general is definitely waning. Its now F**K U let me see how much I can rip you for and why are you living in my country.
However I must add one point I've never stayed longer then 7 nights at a time I've been going down to C.R. since 1996 3 -5 five times a year. But I recall a conversation I had in the NewYork bar last year with an American living there. He was going back to the U.S, he said he needs a break from the Ticos about every 6 months because of the BS games they like to play. I thought he was living in paradise. (OK two points)

Maybe ,my now preception is tainted unjustly. I agree that the P4P scene is undeniable convienent.
Your opinions and observations are welcome. Please feel free to disagree with me

CR is like every place, IT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. Some people like LA others hate it, some like Hattiesburg, Mississippi others hate it, some like the Midwest rural living others hate it, some luv the Florida sun others hate it. You have to make your own choices in life and if they do not work out take the next fork in the road and try that.

I have lived here for four years and I have to say I notice no difference in the Tico attitude toward me nor do I have to leave every six months to get away from the BS. In fact I average a week out of CR every year not to get away but because of family obligations.

My friends and acquaintances all feel the same, we have found "our paradise" and have no plans to leave. That does not change the basic premise that CR is not for everyone. Do you have to adjust to a different life style, absolutely. Do you have to make some compromises, sure. That is all part of the game and if you approach it with the right frame of mind it is not only easy but also a lot of fun.

As with everything in this life YMMV

I have some neighbors who grew up and lived there and they might disagree.

When I was down in April I also noted the decline in the Breakfast at the Pres.. rising over all cost. I was there helping a friend move in to his town house he bought 3 years ago at 72,000$. He 's now back here in the US and his house is on the market for 145K. He was telling our group the cost of living is rising at about 10% a year, he can longer afford to live there, what after 6 months?? He says there's a definite attitude change in the Ticos and Ticas toward Americans.
I don't know, I always though if I hit the Lottery I'd buy a place down there, but the cost of realestate has sky rocketed in the last three yrs. My friend, like me, lives on a retirement plus a little investment.
Others tell me Nicargua is place to move to and great place to monger in is, Columbia (Medellin)
Any thoughts???? or observations??
Flacoduro

Medellin real estate has gone up a lot too but the Peso has just recently devalued against the dollar (12%) so maybe still some good buys. Really think the U.S. real estate problems are going to spread to the CR and the rest of Lat. Amer. since a lot (I read 60%) of the U.S investment down there is a result of the the home equities we use to all have here in the U.S. Nicar. is real cheap. I paid for an educated English speaking tour guide out of Managua for 2 days and worth all $200. He mentioned how he could rent a 2/2 apt. in a good area just outside of Managua for $200/mo. Then he said he could also find a decent place for $70/mo. to rent (yes setenta, not siete cien). I didn't monger there but liked Nicar. Managua seemed dangerous though.

Those greedy recalcitrant little whores in C.R. better wake up or they're going to price themselves out of the market. Not too long ago I had the most beautiful whore, complete multi-orgasmo hour long session for $160 in my apartment and no tip required. And she foked the you know what out of me because it was Superbowl and hadn't seen a guy all day. Had another avg. peformer whore willing to come back direct for $100. Why go to C.R. and pay more than $80 esp. factoring in all the extra expenses?

I have only been twice to CR but i know that it's a fit for me.Ofcourse there are going to be bumps in the road like every other place.Everybody has their own expectations of a destination because we are all different. For me CR has about 90% of what i'm looking for.(my third trip in 6 months in Nov.)The other 10% i choose to ignore!!!

It costs more than that. The minute I land I`m already in the hole at least $800 for plane, hotel, cabs, and other fees. If I do 10 chicas add $80 to the price of each. And there is no other reason for me to be in CR as everything else in SJO I have at home.
