YO: Old timers vers the Newbies:

I hate to burst a bubble for anyone but there is not a person on the board older than 30 that does not relish the "good ole days" in one way or another. It may have been junior or high school, college, first mongering trips or certain females and careless ramblings one might recall with fond memories.

As for us older guys, I have run into only a few on this board and the one before that continuously rambled on about the "good ole days." None of which are still active. Most of the senior members along with myself do not ramble on about past history unless asked about it or it comes up in conversation relating to a current topic.

For some fellows the good ole days are the only thing they have to hold onto because their life has taken a turn for the worse........worsening health, bad marriages, debt, wrinkles and age, no self esteem, no friends and most of all, they no longer liked themselves anymore. These are people I feel for but do not care to be around with exception of war veterans.....I have a soft spot and more understanding for them.

If an old timer constantly brags about all the women he has had and the money he has made ......hell, he probably did not do 75% of his claims if any. Same goes for the younger fellows.....and CRT has had it's share of young lions roaring for nothing.

As for inflation over a lifetime, I'm only concerned with what it costs today....not yesteryear. Frankly, my recollections of the old CR was never about dinero....it was the culture. I firmly believe the cultural history is a good topic to share just as it is in this country. How many of our under 25 yr. olds don't have a clue about history or even the current branches of government.

Yep, old Circus got a bit long winded but if and when the next time you belly up to the bar next to me.......don't ask me shit about anything unless you want to know where the head is. Nothing I can tell you that will change your life anyway.

I will say that you might consider......the good ole days may just be your last hour, yesterday or the day before. Live each eay as if it might be your last.....in moderation of course.

Pura vida.

I agree, in those days, being a gringo in the Key Largo meant that you were like Indiana Jones to a lesser degree, but definitely in the minority. Bartenders were fairer game than the working chicas and there wasn't a Colombiana or Dominicana in sight.

Ahh...the good ole days. I'll never forget my first stroll through KL in 1994. You can compare that experience with a guy in 2007 making his first stroll through the gauntlet.
Change is inevitable. CR was definately more of a third world country then. It is highly developed now as compared to then. As TB put it, you kinda felt like Indiana Jones making an adventure. Now, although I still love CR, their is a bit too much gringo influence. It just doesn't have that "adventure" appeal.

Hey dear friend... For some reason (or another) everytime you have posted, some type of controversy has stemmed from it. And no wonder the number of responses you have received from old as well as newbie CRTs.

Fortunate for me, based on the number of subjects you have posted about... what? 94???, I am beginning to learn how to disregard any post that has your handle as the author...

So take this as a well meaning message. THINK!!!! before you decide to post ANYTHING!!!! because there seems to be a connection between your fingers and your ass!

While in Costa Rica I heard a couple of conversations from old timers how Costa Rica used to be. The prices were cheaper and the women would do what you would want and how everything has changed.

In 1969 I got phucked in Viet Nam for 95 cents. I haven't been back, but doubt that I could get the same today. Old farts who moan about the "good old days", probably never had any "good old days" to begin with. They have been too grumpy all their lives looking in the rear view mirror at life. My salary is at least 30 times what my father's was when I was growing up. Shouldn't everything cost more today?

The "good old days" are today, attitude is everything. I'm looking forward to some new "good old days" memories at the Anniversary Party.

Health & happiness

Well put Santos, this should nip it in the bud when anybody pines for the good old days. Carpe Diem you shallow terds whining about back whence. Inflation and the supply demand curve do and always have existed. I have no tolerance for those that live in the past and complain about this price back then...move forward or put your depends back on with your 20 dollar ho.

Wonderful curmudgeon response!

BTW: Don't worry Terminator, Muff ignores my posts too.

One thing I have noticed, veteran or rookie alike here is that for some (Muff excluded, of course), whatever it is...it is never good enough. Yeah there are too many freaking gringos...it's gotten so bad that even English-speaking Latinos Estados Unidenses don't get a lot of respect. I hate hearing about Wal*Mart nametags on Mas X Menos employees. Sex is expensive, not the forty-dollar bargain it was twenty years ago. Not to mention the loss of all those girls who once worked Morazan Park. Art Y.'s is gone. BBC is gone. Happy Days and Bar Dandy are gone. There is no more Park Hotel, let alone the wild shows once hosted there.
The big pink warehouse is now a big pink whorehouse. So it goes.

I'm not a veteran, I'm not a long-time resident of or visitor to C.R.

Know what? I still like it.

Some thing should NOT be mentioned, not only does that look bad it's against the rules.

Even when we're discussing history? I mentioned it to illustrate that the gold old days had some fairly nasty elements to them. Incidentally, I edited.

El C,

I think the point that Admin 1 has tried to make is that any mention of that topic, including posts against, still draw attention based on the search bots that LE use. No reason for us not to careful and just aviod the topic like the plague.

Really it was easier shooting fish in a barrel years ago than now since the cost was less with the Ticas being less affected by the large influx of foreigners. It was great when our main competition were Ticos instead of ourselves or even worse uninformed drunk idiot Gringos that can't wait to throw their $$$$ away :? . I was shocked to see some Chicas laughing & turning down cien because they wanted a buck-fifty  . Cien is a lot to these Chicas & they must know they can get 150 to walk :( . At these prices I think it is time to look further south to places less traveled. One would quickly recoup the cost difference for the addition airfares at these kinds of rates.

For me it really doesn't mater much since the frequent workers in HDR are not my cup of tea. Men that want to continue to enjoy what CR has to offer need to continue to morph around the problems & turn offs that arise by polishing their game to the point they are able to snare the newbies that aren't so comfortable in charging such high fees & generally perform much better. YOU NEED TO LEARN THEIR LANGUAGE & this alone gives one a bigger edge over any single thing. Money will get the Chicas along with morphing them into gringas but it takes much more than this to get the best performance out of them.
