I read a few years back Hank. That you said you were done with this board. I believe you said that two other previous times also so why do you keep coming back?

While I am sure you meant your question as a rhetorical dig, I will answer you just the same. Sentimentality. I am a sentimental fool at times. I have met some of my closest friends here--real friends, friends I have literally traveled the world with. So, kind of like the godfather, I keep getting sucked back....

But thanks for the shitty comment--reminds me why, periodically, I make such silly proclamations.

Cheers.

No problem, I make the same resolution because of all of the occasional venom here, but I keep coming back because of the nice guys and the useful posts.

And following on pops comments. Generally the advice is not to send money to chicas...etc. etc. and all for good reasons. Getting them dependent on you is generally not good for them or for you.

But I say we are in an exceptional situation. I don't think it would hurt for each of us to help a little bit. My favorite girl for example...I know she is the favorite of others too. So an option...only an option.. is for all of us to send a little to some or all of the girls who we know. With no commitment to support her, her K*ds, her family, etc. for the rest of eternity...but with a clear statement that..

...I'm sending you a little bit to help, and I'm sending some to others too...please don't send me requests for money, but here is some. If you bombard me with requests then for sure there will be no more...but here it is.

Thoughts?
I have a firm rule about not sending money to Chicas.
Like Judge Judy says : " There is no fool like an old fool ".
However, Unusual times call for an unusual response.
If a girl actually has a job in CR, she is likely out of a job now.
Government assistance in CR does not exist.
I have violated my rule for one girl and her mother who absolutely have
nothing to eat.
This was my idea. She never asked.
She is not a pro. Many girls in the same situation.
Just my humanity I guess.
Too many sweet girls actually starving.

As a tourist who visits once in a while, sending money back to CR makes little sense.
Living here and developing friends, you see a different reality and different types of hard working, single mothers, etc.. times are bad in CR and most options have shut down. A little help is appreciated by most, badly needed, and thankfully accepted. In this time lets just call it a little charity

I’m at the Sportsman’s now, girl pulled out hand sanitizer b4 I touched her tits. If you do not see this is not worse then the flu why is Italy shut down and multiple ships not allowed to dock? Our president is more worried about his numbers rather then informing the public. Remember it’s a Democratic hoax but just funded a few billion to contain it. Not that I’m going to worry to much but this is a bigger then Fox News says even though it’s about all they talk about.

Back on the Corona virus...... I hear that anyone in CR can get a quick test for COVID just by asking. Do any of you living in CR have any insight on this.

Hell, we can't get a test here in Florida unless we have a DR's order and then we can get in line for a test where we can get the result in a week or so.

"Because Costa Rica doesn’t produce its own PCR-based kits, it doesn’t have the capacity to conduct large-scale COVID-19 testing, according to the Health Ministry. However, the country has purchased or received donations of enough kits to process all suspected cases."

Doctors say that COVID19 will become a seasonal disease.
And a pandemic will end only when more than 50% of the representatives of society will have immunity. Or through a disease or through vaccination.
Different countries will go to this in different ways. But the faster immunity is formed in most citizens, the earlier the economy will be restored.
The US goes this way, hoping to minimize losses. By autumn, the formation of the immune layer will be completed.
The country has a resource for this.
China will go the other way - they will start the industry now, but they will introduce total control of the incidence before the invention of the vaccine.
They have a resource for this.
Europe will be tormented slowly and for a long time. And the industry will not be launched, and the immune layer will form for a very long time.

The only way that you would get tested in the public sector is by presenting severe symptoms. If you are able to breath you would be sent home to recover. I am sure that if you have any symptom and go to a private hospital ready to pay you would be tested. That is the way socialized medicine works here. If you don't have the virus and want it go to the hospital and wait in line for a few hours. You get healthcare here but not on a really timely basis. Here is how it works. If you have a problem you go to a clinic to get checked out or go wait in line at hospital emergency. There may be hundreds of people ahead of you and you are seen after triage which means if your symptoms are not critical you wait. To get an appointment at a clinic people line up at 5am just to get a time slot. A close friend had a lump on her breast. The clinic gave her an appointment to see a doctor over a year from that date. The lump turned out to be a non-malignant cyst after removal at a private hospital. Lots of people die here for lack of timely treatment. Carlos who worked the desk at L'Amistad is a good example.

We don't know how many people have had it...but almost certainly nowhere near 50% of the population. And the level of immunity you get with having had this virus is not known yet. It could be like the common cold...only very short immunity. In which case a vaccine will be necessary. So if you are thinking that we will just carry on until "herd immunity" happens...well, I don't think the US will be anywhere close by fall. If it would have been let go to run the course, perhaps. But no where near that. At the rate of death in the US (based on "known" cases) that would mean several million more deaths. Let's see...at the current death rate of over 5% and you let say 200 million people get it (to get to just over 50% with "immunity) you would have 10 million deaths. Or a bit less if the actual death rate is less than 5%. Don't think even Trump will go with that option.
