Can someone please tell me where there is a Western Union Office in san Jose.
If I were in town I could ask one of the ladies, but I'm not.
It is for sending someone money not receiving.

TIA

The girls usually go to the one to the left of the entrance of Barrio Chino to get their monthly payments while on the way to work at the DR.

I lost both my debit cards a few days apart from each other and needed some cash to survive.
I used my paypal account and their service called xoom to send myself a few hundred. Picked it up at the nearest Teledollar location; within minutes, it was like $15

Just put the persons full name, Address is San Jose, Costa Rica. Send the WU number on the payment receipt you are given after paying and send it to whomever you are sending money to and she can go to any WU office in Costa Rica and pick up the money. She has to have WU number.

I suggest using Sigue instead. The charge is cheaper, the money can be picked up at any Teledolor and the best part is there is never BS to make the transfer. I have never been denied like Moneygram and Western Union sometimes do.

WU is both useless and insulting.

I used WU in the US to send my chica money. It arrived and was prepaid by me. The wouldn't give her the money until they got more info about me. I sent Chica a scan of my passport..Second trip back : They needed to know my occupation. I scanned a copy of my civil engineering registration card. Third trip : No go. They needed to know list of my projects and previous employers. After that I gave up. Chica wasted a bundle in taxi fare and we both wasted a lot of time.

WU /USA says there is nothing they can do about it.

sure nothing bad could come from that

something fishy about this.
once you send her the number given to you by wu all she has to do is show her id and tell them the number.
looks like you got scammed by someone for your information.

Gents,

I don't want to get crossways with anyone here but I just want to point out that what Isra123 said above is not "always" correct. From time to time (and I don't know what causes it) Western Union does indeed request information from the sender like what was requested from WayneH above.

I think it has to do with a CR law (Ley 8204) trying to prevent illegal activities.

One must send detailed information to AirPak in CR like:1. Copy of Invoices, Receipts, Contracts 2. Attach Identity Document 3. Submit a copy of a Public Service receipt (Water, Light or Telephone).

While I'm sure there are some folks in CR and elsewhere that are indeed trying to scam people out of valuable personal information, that is simply not always the case. However, one must always keep their guard up!

I have the letter in full from AirPak (Western Union) and the form that must accompany the requested forms (both in Spanish). If anyone wants to see them please send me a PM.

Hope this helps.

Woozo
