This post is for all the guys interested in pursuing women outside of the DR. I repeat... this is not intended for guys trying to convert hard core DR chicas.. I stand by my position that DR chicas do not make for GFs.

There are no guarantees in life, but this might help some of the guys here that are blowing good opportunies.

DON'TS

1. Wear expensive jewelry. Buy a cheap watch and leave your
expensive jewelry at home.

2. Don'tTake her to an expensive restaurant. Tell her you want to try the
local food. Shows interest and respect for the culture and an
open minded attitude.

3. Don't buy her anything expensive... period. If you feel you have to
buy her something to show your affection, make it something
inexpensive.

4. Do not See her exclusively. Make her earn your affection.
Remember, getting laid here is automatic.

5. Do not talk about your great income, expensive house or car
back in the States.

6. If you take her to the beach or anywhere else, do not stay in an
expensive hotel.

7. If you want to give her some money, do not overpay.

8. Do not call her all the time from the States or e mail every day.
An occassional call or e-mail is OK

9. Absolutely do not send money from the States for any reason.

10. Do not send gifts from the United States.

11. Do not send them pictures from the States of you house, car etc.

Do's

1. Try to speak Spanish.. even if your Spanish sucks.. shows respect
for the culture.

2. Ask about her family.. Ticas are very family oriented.

3. Take her dancing.... again.. even if you suck let her teach you.

4. Bring along some Latino music so she can teach you to dance.

5. Take her for nice walks.

6. Learn as much as you can about the culture.

7. Take her on activities that do not cost a lot of money.

8. Take it slow. Make her earn your trust and respect.

9. Dump her if she leeches on to you or appears obsessive.

10. Keep her guessing on what you might do next.

11. Dump her if VB tells you he saw her at the DR.

KC, GREAT POST which everyone should take to heart. I especially liked #11 on the do's... too funny.

This should be a "golden rule" list for any girl if applied practically to your individual situation. Even in the states, I see my well-to-do friends try to "buy" a girl's affection, and even though it works for a short time, it's not how a long-term success story is created. It always ends, and usually badly. A woman has to like (or love) you for YOU, not for your bank account or how you can spoil them.

Since I'm a broke bitch, I don't ever have to worry about such things...

Dap- Shame, shame, shame, I know your name...

Is she your current chica? Are you two exclusive? How long has it lasted so far? Inquiring minds want to know...

Several of these suggestions work just for dealing with CR in general, from either point of view. I figure that if somebody starts talking about how rich they are, run, since the touch is coming soon. CR has more, "millionaires," who are a little short at the moment than I am winning to believe. One tico took two of us to Scarlett's, but my hustler radar was freaking out. He was really nice to us, and paid for everything, but I've seen too many situations where people got burned. The story my wingman heard didn't help, since the host did talk about a relative with cancer. I don't want to be paranoid, but it is necessary to be careful.

Really a great post my friend. Unfortunately several of our veteren posters have confused your "Do's with your Don'ts. The "take me away from all this and make me an honest woman" syndrome overtakes all their senses. DR chicas should just be honest with the Gringos and send them e-mails like my K*ds used to send me from camp. "Having a wonderful time, please send more money". My K*ds were smart enough to pre-write 5-6 of these letters and give them to me before they left.

VB..................

You are our High Priest of the DR and it never ceases to amaze me how many of these Gringos don't believe you when you tell them that their "GF" is working at the DR.

I have to agree with you that many of these guys have the RESCUER MENTALITY.

I'll be in town on the 28th. See ya at Happy Hour

Great Advice King Costa. If she is wearing and FBVB (phucked by Vegas Bob) T-Shirt....this is a good sign of a bad girl.

Both you guys have good insights into human nature,
AND into TICA nature.
I know that I will never have a normal relationship with a girl 40 years my junior.
I am mercenary enough to cut her off cold at the first offense.
That being said, is there any logic in sending one to school?
My current GFE (Possibly not even a qualified semi-pro) has asked me for nothing, except a language CD set.
Money has never been mentioned since the first night, which may have been her first night at the DR.
She has been in residence for 2 weeks, and knows no one in SJO.
You can get a little more background on her in
TRIP REPORTS: Incomplete trip report
My short term concern is how she will occupy her time when I am back in the States.
I once lost a great (US type) woman because of her boredom while I was working.
What are your collective thoughts on doing good deeds for her because of the good deeds she does me?
