After reading many positive posts about Thailand I became intrigued. It sounds like it is absolutely unbelievable. Everything I have read no one wants to return.

So I started checking fares for a possible Maiden Voyage.

On Cheapoair.com I found flights out of Miami around October 2nd-October 26th. The total flight time to BKK from Miami is 19 hours and 45 minutes. The round trip cost is $988.33.

Maybe some of you Thailand experts can weigh in and say if this sounds correct. Is the price good? Does just under 20 hours sound correct?

I'm a little apprehensive but would love to try at least once.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like good price, decent time. My last trip from DTW was close to $1400 and 27 hours

Focus your research on and plan to spend most of your stay in Pattaya...that's where the volume monger action is.

BKK is nice to spend a couple of days up front or back end of the trip. It is a busy and congested city with more limited hobby options.

In Pattaya you can pretty much walk everywhere and/or take open shuttle to get up and down the strip. Lots of action 24 hours a day!

That sounds great. Is BKK the closest airport to fly into do you know?

Yes it is...same airport for both BKK and Pattaya. You can take a taxi from the airport to your hotel in Pattaya. Door to door is 1500 baht or approx $42, pretty convenient and inexpensive. It is about a 90 minute ride with "normal" traffic (busy).

It is very important to book a chica friendly hotel in Pattaya, to avoid any issues when you bring your visitors. I stayed at an excellent chica friendly hotel located in the middle of the action, but on a quiet pedestrian street. Aya Boutique Hotel:

http://www.ayapattayahotel.com

It is half a block from Beach Rd., three blocks from Walking Street and close to all the shopping and restaurants...and most important, chica friendly and nice, at an excellent price. I booked through EXPEDIA.

Of course, you can always take the chicas for short time to hourly rooms above/next to the bars. They will point you in the right direction always.

Have fun!

Brandon, holy shit you won't find a place like that in the gulch. I can only imagine the company you would bring back to the room.

Right...and by booking through Expedia, I got an average price of US$65 per night. Quite a find, highly recommended.

I ended up going to rooms by each bar for short time quite a bit. Its just easier and very affordable. Just save your hotel room for more extended, longer time dates (and TLN).

Just got back from Pattaya at the end of February. Stayed at the August Suites hotel. Great centrally located hotel. Convenient to everywhere. If you need any other info, send me a message.
