Has anything good come out of the new site?

Well for me it has not

There was a banner the other day saying " most?" of the pics were back up I sure could not find them, also I get a security alert when I go to that area? Is this not why CRT lost the pics in the first place to better the site from hakers... good job on that

The forum is a bit different and seems to me slower? Is the search function working?

For my needs, the forum seems to work well enough. I've used the forum search a few times (but not much) without any trouble.

What REALLY troubles me is the loss of the old "NEW VIP Gallery" and its search function. That's why I started a thread recently about that gallery. Alex and DonCarlos responded with some good talk and plans to restore the gallery. They even asked for input from us.

I am encouraged even though I have never seen any target dates for the restoration. The natives may be less restless if there was a target date----even a soft target date.

Starting to suck No it HAS sucked ever since Admin1 bailed, CRT needs CPR Went from 1 Admin to (supposedly) 2 Admins to no Admins New format looks very similar to other crappy CR wordpress sites, gee wonder who the new owner is And yes WHY are posts being deleted???

But most important- will we ever see the pics of Mucho Gusto at Pucho's and Nhhank's fatass novias again

I agree with most comments. I tried multiple times to use the search options to no avail. Luckily I remembered the original poster and an approximate date range and was able to find it by searching old posts from the user profile.

Photos to me are not much of a big deal..., but I do miss some of the old and classic funny ones! Even so the migration of old photos to the new site should have taken hours if not a maximum of 1 day.

Even seen the site has shutdown on one occasion (believe it was down somewhere 12 to 16 hours) because of lack of payment for additional bandwidth... this to me is the most unacceptable part. I may be mistaken of what happened, but even Admin 1 came on to chat the following day once the site was restored saying he had warned of how to prevent this and that it was now comical how his advice was ignored.

I really haven't noticed much change in this site except for a fancier front end and some improvement in overall board conduct and decorum. There has been a noticeable decrease in polemic posting by the usual handful of suspects. If the new admin took some sort of action to make this happen... good on him!

To me 99% of CRT's value is this forum, for info sharing and networking with other dudes who are like minded (have met a few good buddies through this forum). It seems to be better moderated, so I'm happy with it.

Gentlemen:
Although I do not like to comment on policy of the new Admin's there were some bumps in the road in transition and he is learning his way through a mind field of data, membership & likes and dislikes of both Members paying & non. Give him a break it took me 9 plus years and I still never made everyone happy he is only been at it 90 Days.

With that said yes there was a security breach in the old VIP gallery that wasn't malicious in nature but it was able to be hacked to change and hijack pages etc. The decision was made to move the old pictures over in a new format until all hell broke loose with negative comments. At that point they tried to bring over the old gallery in some sort of archived way and guess what new servers, new hosts but same security issue so that was scrapped security issue removed.

Now they are back at square one trying to maintain the new look of the place and bring back the gallery, its comments & its search features without compromising the integrity of the rest of the site and server. So without turning this into the Costa Rica Sucks Club for the 1000TH time... Give these guys a break they are doing their best to make all of you happy and I'm consulting as much as I can.

Tomas.....thank you for your insight and for your consultations. Your involvement is very encouraging. I hope that you can help to get the deed done soon and still preserve your sanity.

I had not heard of this site until this post, went there, was highly unimpressed, it is excessively busy and confusing with minimal instructions, I attempted to pull up pictures and got different confusing responses, I am assuming that you can see the pics if you are a paying member, (but then again, perhaps they don't even exist) but it gave different confusing statements as to why it could not perform. I set up an account and it said it would send a communication to my email, did not receive, checked junk area also.

I joined CRT for two reasons as the discounts are paltry and small change as far as I am concerned, I wanted to enjoy the camaraderie, humor and recommendations as well as participate in same and see pics of hotties I may have a shot at in upcoming visits. This other site gives no indication the latter exists, if I knew it did, I would join. CRT at least gave "teaser" pics with promises of more if you joined and that was the deciding factor for me.

At a later date when I am near my next visit I may email the purveyors of this other site and ask them if photos even exist. If there is someone here who knows better and perhaps I am not doing things correctly, please let me know, until then I am unimpressed with them and still see CRT as superior, as the format is simpler and more user friendly.

I wasted 20 minutes of my time fumbling and stumbling on their site to no avail.

These guys at that site should ask their clients what they would like and try to accommodate, I used to be a sales manager for a builder accounting software company, we did and reaped many benefits and the recommended changes enticed a much larger group of customers, in short, we made much more money.

Attention computer nerds, pay attention to those of us who know how to bring in the big bucks !!!!

100% agree. he is still recording great music to this day. the man is truly a legend. had the honor of seeing him live on his last "reality" tour in 04. i can easily get lost in the vast youtube videos of his career. i had never seen this movie. really enjoyed it.

When clicking the "members photos" link on the forum page Avast shows a "Trojan blocked" message. Also, when reading the forum entries, the entire page will jump up and down depending on whether a one- or two-line banner ad is being displayed. This is really annoying. These are some serious problems that should be fixed right away.

On the positive side, there does seem to be a real decrease in the number of troll postings. Whether this is better admin monitoring or just a welcome lucky streak, it's an improvement.
