That is for sure. I have always been of the opinion since women are so involved in the selection process for these things the best looking and most talented women will never compete. Much like Vegas shows. Go to any Las Vegas show and if you compare the women in the audience to the showgirls on stage, those in the audience are always 10x better looking. That is because old ladies do the casting and always have terrible taste.

Perhaps you have to come from the right family to be considered for the pageant. A beautiful girl from a poor barrio probably doesn't have a chance. How often have we seen women in beauty contests and thought to ourselves " how the hell did she make the cut"? We later learn that she is the Mayors daughter.
