Are there any places that have karaoke in English?

Although I can't give you first hand experience from San Jose, I can tell you that I've never been to a karaoke joint anywhere in the world that didn't have English songs. Sometimes it's surprising far the reach of US culture extends. Most notably when you're in some god-forsaken corner of the world, and they're playing the same shitty pop songs as they do in the US

Grammis in San Francisco Dos Rios does, and I think their selection is better than Castro's. Castro's is closer to the gulch, and the chicas like to dance there too.

the Loncheria has plenty. Almost every place i have gone has some songs in English, usually a LOT of stuff in English. Baja Beach has Karaoke very close to the gulch.

I try not to post too much negativity but have to about the mention Brother CH0017 made about Gramy's. Not that it doesn't have Karaoke in English--doubtless it does--and the food was reasonable and the beer was cold. The DJ/presenter was however a piece of crap. I was in a party of 11 including 2 excellent singers and we had to fight like hell to get them a turn apiece. It wasn't just that we were a mixed Tico/Gringo party either--when we finally got disgusted and left, there were 14 names ahead of ours, all locals; meanwhile 2 of the DJ's amigos got 2 turns apiece and this ego-bound A$$hole DJ ran his mouth about 70% of the time. I thought the Gentle Giant in our group was gonna explode in frustration.
BOTTOM LINE: avoid like the plague especially on weekends

Jazzbo: I have to concur about weekends at Grammis. If you ain't local, you ain't singin much. I first went on a Wednesday and sang so much my voice pooped out. I went back on Saturday and spent 4hrs there and only sang twice...no big loss though, as the salmonella from La Esquina de Buenos Aires was about to lay me low for the next 24 hrs.

Another club I liked was close to the gulch in a bus depot...I think it is called Bar Mexico..another local joint, but the KJ is cool. The bartender "Francia" has about the cutest face I've seen in CR and hooks on the side...I've never been with her, but my chica had set up a trio with her..that didn't happen....yet....I gotta call her this week. :)

Want to tell us where you can (a) reserve a working girl or (b) find a reserved working girl in SJO? Youth demands to know...

Have never been in Baja Beach club in all my time in SJ...every time I've taxi'd by it, it always looks deserted. Is there ever any action in there?
