More publicity for CR can't be a good-thing. From a CRT perspective anyway

Yes.... !!!

Please expand on this... and from what perspective.

I have a friend who is married to a Tica and he tells me that one of the "bad" things that are happening in CR is the real estate has been increasing because of the growing number of "gringos" who are moving to CR and buying/building nice homes and condos.

Along with real estate, the cost of household utensils and cars have also increased quite a lot. And he says that if you are relocating and chose to bring your furniture and vehicle(s), you must be ready to shed out a big chunck of money.

But still, none of these facts can be that bad...

Sounds to me like he meant that all the publicity is not good for us mongers. Too many new gringos is causing too much change. I feel the same way and have decided to stop telling stories back home. In the past year alone , more than a dozen guys from my area have made trips to CR after seeeing pics & hearing stories from me & my wingman. I see this as a bad thing. :(

Aside from the obvious drawbacks of a higher number of gringos coming down (raising chica prices, booking hotels, raising airfares, etc), there's that little issue of the US government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. Once 60 minutes does a piece on how many US citizens (men) travel to CR 3-6 (or 10 for some of you) times a year for sex.... lookout!

Media coverage of places like Kamur or Zona Blue is fine, as long as it's just those places being featured and it's not linked to US men coming to CR strictly for the purpose of buying sex.
