I know this may belong in a different category, but need more imediate input..met a girl from Puerto Rico, here in my hometown.

hot latina. Last night, slept with her. totally hot. First time with a condom, second time, without. showered immediately after each time, as she loves to do that. did it in the shower too, for that matter.

today she calls and says she just got a call from her doctor about her regular checkup from last month. Doctor says she just tested positive for herpes. talk about sh*tty timing. Doctor says that don't worry, you will probably not give it to someone else unless you have outbreak / symptoms. She has never exhibited symptoms of anything, ever. maybe its not even correct, she is going back to re-test.

Obviously, I am alarmed. Any input good or bad please.

besides the obvious WEAR A PHUCKING CONDOM STUPID.

Solamente,
Sorry about your predicament. My advice would be to send a PM to our resident expert on STD's, ED Drugs and Stinky Poossy's.... El Ciego.
He has a wealth of knowledge on STD's, and I think he might be able to give you some good intel.
Good luck and remember...... NO GLOVE, NO LOVE !!!!
Just kidding. Sorry...I couldn't help it!
Mucho Gusto

Relax nothing will happen is my best bet. She needs to be in an out break for you to get it & if you never have herpes (fever blisters on your lips) you will likely be immune even if she was in an out break. I was with a Gringa that had this for years & I never contracted anything but this is an area YMMV.

Nothing you can do anyway this is a virus. If you are the type that gets fever blisters stay away & really maybe it is better you keep your distance you just can't be to safe.

The Zipperoo is right, however, I don't think she would have tested positive if she was not haveing a breakout at the time of the doctor appt.
So, depending on how soon after she saw you she saw the doctor would tell you if she was contageous.
Right now, don't sweat it. there is nothing you can do. If you end up with it, it is controllable for the most part.

Yep. I talked to my doctor about this when I got all my tests. In order for you to test positive for herpes, they must test an actual sore. So she probably had one on the day of her appointment.

That said, I wouldn't worry like crazy. It doesn't mean you have herpes. She might not have had the sore during sexo. If she did, you may not have contacted it.... it could have been way up her coozy.

My ex gringa novia had warts. She even had an outbreak during sex. 10 years later and I still never caught it. Your own immune system is a factor as well.

It took me 4 seconds to find this on the web:

Quote:
Can Herpes Be Transmitted Without Symptoms?
Yes! Sometimes those who know they are infected spread the virus between outbreaks, when no signs or symptoms are present. This is called "Asymptomatic Transmission."
Research also shows that herpes simplex infections are often spread by people who don't know they are infected. These people may have symptoms so mild they don't notice them at all or else don't recognize them as herpes.

Many genital herpes infections are spread from persons who are asymptomatic "Shedders" of the virus.

For those who recognize their symptoms, asymptomatic transmission appears to be far less likely than spreading the virus when lesions are present. Many couples have had sexual relations for years without transmitting herpes. Some simply avoid having sexual contact when signs or symptoms are present. Others use condoms or other protection between outbreaks to help protect against asymptomatic shedding.

Came from here:

Thanks for the info and links D2864.

Seeing how belonging to this board and posting on it requires either a computer or access to one it would seem reasonable that most here are at the very minimum semi computer literate.

In spite of the wealth of accurate medical, legal, etc. information available to anyone taking a few minutes to search the web there continue to be posts asking for information. The answers may be 100% accurate or then again they may not be and since the person had to ask for info to begin with he has no way of separating what is or is not accurate.

That makes me wonder why someone would ask for critical information on a public forum. I do not mean info on hotels, bars, MP's, etc. where guys can recount there experience I mean in areas of health, finances, legal, etc.

Just meant as a discussion question not a criticism.

Man, you phucked yourself up for life. Yes sir, you got it. The good news, you won't live long!
Ok, that was a cruel joke from this insensitive Cuban MF! :D
My advice, take it easy. Get yourself tested, and then go from there. Learn from the experience, and from now on, WEAR A PHUCKING CONDOM BUDDY! Good luck and wish you the best!

thanks guys I appreciate it... Irish Drifter, I agree, but I was hoping for a bit of reassurance since looking at sites on this info can simply be more alarming and I am trying to calm down.

Believe me this is not something I want to go around talking about, but in my relative anonymity here, with guys who have been around the block, I thought this decent bunch would be a reasonable place to turn.

I have calmed down a bit. But I had a scare for this once and it was a nightmare... can't stand the thought...

The sex was hot tho. I have learned a lesson either way. I can only hope I have dodged a bullet somehow, she has never exhibited a symptom in her life and had tested negative in her other bi-annual check-ups. This test had been performed a month before today, news just came. I sure wish my timing had somehow delayed a day, could have avoided the scare either way. Will keep my fingers crossed and get tested. How long should I wait before I get tested?

Any other input is still welcome.

Jeez I really liked this chica too.

Seriously... You can't get tested until you have sores. Unless my doctor is full of shit, this is fact. They essentially do a test on the sore itself.

Here's a link:

Dude - take a deep breath and relax. As I said, there is no guarantee you have anything.[/url]

Don't get tested. If you are positive you'll eventually know it. There is a blood test and a phone number is in the link of my previous post on this thread so use it if you like.

The reason I say don't get tested is because you said she doesn't have symptoms and to be honest you've probably already sleep with others who have herpes, but they don't know they have herpes. The only difference this time is that she told you and she knows it - others know they have it and sleep with you anyway.

Herpes below the belt is labeled HSV2, herpes above the belt is labeled HSV1. When I say below the belt, I mean anywhere below the belt. I had a GF that would get it on her inner thigh and to be honest she would cry herself to sleep when she had it (hurt really bad). Two thighs rubbing together will transmit herpes even without a outbreak! I'm serious, but don't be alarmed because like I said you and everyone on this board have probably been with more than a few who have herpes.

20% of the US population has HSV2 though most never have any symptoms. So you could get tested, but whoopie you might have already had it from previous relationships/encounters.

I know a lot about this because of one of my ex-GFs and I worked in a NIH lab for 2 years while in college. One of the focuses in the lab was herpes.

This is a very deep subject - herpes is complicated. I can't tell you everything about herpes right now.

Most of the time HSV2 does occur within and around the Y, but not always. Search for pictures of herpes by using the Yahoo image search and you'll see it everywhere below the belt (especially on the butt). So if she gets it on the butt most of the time and you are doing her from behind, you could get it on the front of your legs (it is transmitted by rubbing).

Don't worry too much about it. You probably already have it (20%).

Herpes is a viral germ that has a chemical like reaction to the skin! It takes awhile for this action to penetrate into the skin, so if you take a shower and wash that area with hot water and soap directly after the act you WONT have a problem!! later

Herpes is a virus that travels your nerves and ends up at your nerve endings which are at skin level. It is not a blood related virus so those that have it can still give blood.

If an outbreak is present.... too late for soap and water.
