Just a question. I know you can buy almost anything at duty free and take it with you. I never shop duty free so I don't know the prices or whats available.
I wanted to bring on this trip: two bottles of Patron, a bottle or two of Jager, stoli, and a few small bottles of cordials. Safe for carry on? Is it allowed? I get it all FREE thats why I am asking. If I dont have to spend a bunch of money on liquor, I'll end up giving most away before I leave, the better. I know you cant bring open bottle on board. Whats been your experiences on this. I'll be in an apt for the week so its more of the reason to do so. Thanks in advance!

You can bring 8 liters into CR. I would not put it into checked baggage as it will be broken or lost (read stolen). Carry on the only way to go.

Exactly.

Unless they don't carry what you want, booze are way barato in CR, even more so in Panama, if you have a chance to go there.

Stoli goes for about 8 USD at the SJO airport duty free ( less than 4 bucks in Panama ) Flor De Cana 18 yrs rum is 30 USD , and Chivas 12 yrs is about 28 USD. You do the math.

When arrived at SJO, in addition to the ones at the gate level, there is a duty free right next to the luggage pick up at the back of the hall. Should be convenient enough to stock up before passing through custom.

No matter how good the prices are at the SJO duty free, and they are reasonable for most stuff, they are way more expensive than FREE

Thanks ID... Free is a way better price! Perks of the night club industry. Promos keep my tab at $0! I may pick up a few things there to lighten my load. Patron is coming with me no question. As for cordials I dont know whats available so I am bringing a few small bottles. Peach, melon, apple different flavors I never see there. All will go in the carry on as mentioned lost in (stolen) checked. $8 for stoli I'll do. Patron Platinum I doubt anyone there has. Thanks for the input guys....
