and the 80's had many chicas available (probably 90% ticas in CR) along with hardly any fear of walking the streets at 2 am. The "Golden Age" of safety was indeed the 70's, 80's and early 90's but I've writen about this before.
I do not go back in time as far as Circus in visiting CR but I did start in the very early 90's. CR was as Circus describes it more laid back, economical and relatively safe. Since that time it has consistently grown more popular, more a magnet for chicas from different countries, more susceptible to drug use, less safe and more expensive.
As a result people I have know here pulled up stakes and headed to Thailand which seems to offer much of the same things CR did in the early nineties. Everything is much cheaper, the streets are, I am told, relatively safe and life less hectic than CR.
I believe that Thailand will be come a victim of its own popularity and suffer the same decline as CR. Then mongers will find the new "paradise" flock to it and bring about its decline caused by popularity. So I do not believe mongering golden years are past I believe they are just a moving target and you have to stay ahead of the curve until the excitement wears off and you settle down into one place even after it's "Golden Years" have, like the sun, set.
