Anybody have any suggestions for the most cost effective way to do this?

Not sure where you are located in CR, but I've used DHL in Tamarindo before. Took about 2 weeks to get to Florida, but no problems. YMMV.

Depending on how many books and how fast you want them delivered, I'd ask CRT members going back to dump them off at the nearest UPS store.

You could put them in luggage that once in the states can be used as a sort of box for shipping, once in the US wrap tape around the luggage, slap a label on it and it should be ready for UPS.

We're here to help one another right? :)

Shipping the books DHL or UPS would cost a small fortune.

I would mark the package books and ship them using the CR postal service. get the insurance .

I have shipped gifts etc.... about 15 times to the US and the package always got there and the rates are good.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. It hadn't occurred to me that there was an international book rate so I hadn't even thought to check the regular CR postal system rates. I'll have to do that.

I sent some coffee and extra clothes home from San Jose,
it worked out to $ 20 per Kilo with DHL to Canada, it was too expensive
then DHL just sent a $ 12 bill for brokerage.
service was fast though, 4 days
