In November, older c1mil notes will cease to be accepted as payment. They will be able to be exchanged at banks. All current c1mil notes are red polymer. The old ones (series A & B) have a small transparent window with a portrait and leaf in the top right corner. The newer (series C) have a larger transparent window which spans the entire width of the bill.

Thanks you Boynton for this info. I've had to change out old Colones a couple different times. The last was after the pandemic. Went to BCR inside INS and was a pretty smooth exchange.
