Not asking for a friend...

I have been very lucky during decades of risky behavior to have never had a venereal disease, but my luck ran out. "Cuando las barbas de tu vecino veas pelar, pon las tuyas a remojar"

As CR pharmacias have doctors, I went to one where several guys told me they'd been given shots, but the doctor there told me I had to go to a clinic or hospital to get a diagnosis and a prescription before he'd treat me.

Has the situation changed when I wasn't looking?

I hate the idea of going to Clinica Biblia or someplace like that and paying however much for a consultation and whatever tests when I just need a blast of antibiotics.

Anybody got any suggestions or connections for an in-and-out solution?

That's a great idea. The Man on the Internet suggests a shot, but I haven't taken an antibiotic in years so a Z-pak is probably better than nothing. For the curious here is what is recommended these days:

--

Gonorrhea:
A Z-Pak (azithromycin) alone is no longer recommended as a first-line treatment for gonorrhea. This is due to increasing antibiotic resistance. The current CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines recommend:

A single intramuscular injection of ceftriaxone (250 mg)
In some cases, this may be combined with a single oral dose of azithromycin (1 gram)

Chlamydia:
For chlamydia, a Z-Pak can be an effective treatment. The typical regimen is:

1 gram of azithromycin taken as a single dose

However, an alternative treatment is doxycycline (100 mg taken orally twice daily for 7 days).

Or you could just wait for it to drop off on its own.

You want Cipro for the clap. Z-Packs are more for respiratory illnesses.

First, are you allergic to any antibiotics? Some people are and don't know it, because they have not been exposed to that particular class of antibiotics.

When I was an infant, I was administered a type of cephalosporin, and the doctors thought I had a reaction. Anyway, ever since I was a K*D my parents reported to docs that I was allergic to cephalosporins. I spoke to my allergy doctor later in life, and he said you can be misdiagnosed with drug allergies due to asymptomatic infections (barring skin rash) or spontaneous hives. He was correct because as a teen and adult I was given a ceftriaxone injection due to an ear infection, and did not have a reaction. People have died due to their throat swelling up from anaphylaxis as a result of antibiotic allergies.

Last I recall the preferred treatment was an injection followed up with a single gram (1,000 mg) of an antibiotic. Don't remember the details, but drug resistant strains of clap have emerged over the past several years. Lucky for you, it's actually easier to treat in the penis than in the throat. You need to get it treated fast though, or it can spread to your joints and blood causing serious, but rare issues.

Do yourself and others a favor. Go to Clinica Biblica or Cima and get tested and treated. It won't cost that much. The treatments vary depending on the type of STD you have contracted. The last thing you want to have happen is to self treat the infection and not cure it completely. A incorrect regimen if antibiotics could temporarily suppress the infection but not completely cure it. Weeks later it could reappear, stronger than before. In the meantime you could pass it on to others.

Just go to one of the private hospitals mentioned. But if looking to save a lot of $ don't let them run a full blood panel. Clinica Biblica suggested this when I got food sickness last year and was over $1000 U.S.

You tell them your CLAP symptoms and only want diagnosis for that and they prescribe the treatment. My bill for food sickness consult was over $100 and my U.S. insurance reimbursed.

I know your VD (what they called STDs) before the 1980s embarrassing but a lot of people get them. And be thankful for the inconvenience. I met a bro in Amistad 10 years ago and he got some very rare variant of the CLAP in the U.S. that his doctors said very hard to treat. Took him 3 rounds of antibiotics to cure.

Thanks for all the advice.

I saw a doctor the day after I posted this, and long story short, it doesn't hurt to pee anymore. And of course I'll follow the full course of treatment.

I know it might seem like an odd thing to seek opinions about, but how I handled the whole thing changed because of a couple of comments and a DM. I always learn something when I put my business before the brothers.
