When I was often staying at the HDR back in the glory days of amazement and wonderment, someone told Big John I was an expert in sub prime loans, being that was one of my businesses...

I got treated to a free lunch at Del Mar to sit with him an hour and explain how it all works and how he, as an investor, can take advantage of these loans.

At the time he was a highly intelligent engaging guy and caught on quick to complicated scenarios I explained about buying investment property few others would when I explained it.

I understand due to his health, he sadly fell back, not unlike the HDR herself, but at that time, he was on top of his game.

RIP Amigo, in many ways he was the reason so many of us came here, or at least part of the reason. Trailblazer, visionary, monger extraordinaire, I thank you for at least 100 poundings...

Thanks for the link, Boynton. I actually thought that he had already died. A few years back I saw him on his throne in the HDR lobby and thanked him for all of the good times I had there.

Rip Big John. It took someone like John to get the Del Rey up and running. He was a smart aggressive businessman. About the time he became sick, the Del Rey started going down hill.
