I apologize in advance if this is the wrong sub-forum to post my questions in. As a new member I wasn't sure if it would be a better fit for the newbie board despite having been to SJO/Jaco in past, about 10 years ago now, but from what I can gather quite a bit has changed since then.

Not to be morbid or fish for sympathy but health issues, natural aging and truthfully a lot of neglect on my part over the years has all really started to take its toll on me... I just don't have near the mobility/stamina I did even on my previous visit and to say the last decade has hit me hard would be an understatement. I feel the wheels starting to come off and honestly just really want to attempt one last debaucherous trip before heading back home and spending the remainder of my days with my family and their families.

I'm basically looking for input on if SJO/Jaco is still a worthwhile trip or if I'd be better off redirecting my funds and energy toward another destination. I'm admittedly out of touch with the current scene and don't dabble much with apps which I understand puts me at a significant disadvantage. I know being older is no excuse for not learning and I only have myself to blame that I haven't adapted to this new space in p4p world but part of me does feel it is too late now, feel free to lambast me for my ignorance.

I stayed a few days in HDR on my last visit and every night was more or less able to find a cute 23-29yr old chica who was willing to appease me and my requests during the interview process. Reading through a lot of trip reports here it sounds like covid absolutely decimated things, prices are bit less negotiable now and even the available talent has taken a big nosedive which is a bit discouraging. Between HDR, SL, MPs, Jaco etc I'd like to think there is still fun to be had but because I really want to go all out for this potential last trip I am all ears if anybody has any sage advice. Would I be better off in Medellin? Best I can remember the terrain/infrastructure-limitations there weren't a great fit for someone in my physical shape. Pattaya? I'm not sure I could even tolerate the flight at this stage in the game. Should I try somewhere totally new I've never ventured before, Budapest? or Dominican Republic? I never did make it to a FKK club in Germany.

Any insight is much appreciated and I really am genuinely open to all ideas and suggestions. Thank you.

- Walt

What you got to lose? Go for it!

My response may sound flippant, but it isn't. My personal history is that in 2017, I contracted infective endocarditis and had to undergo emergency dual heart valve replacement. After surgery, I had no heartbeat, so I needed a pacemaker implant. During that second surgery, I had respiratory failure and spent the next two months on a ventilator in an induced coma. They almost pulled the plug, but my healthcare surrogate balked. I eventually recovered enough to come off the ventilator and begin rehab. That's when I contracted MRSA. Blah, blah, blah. More months of re-learning to swallow, feed myself, control my bladder & bowels and walk.

As soon as I was able, (11 months later) I booked a one month stay at the SL. It was familiar territory and I wanted to celebrate being alive. I came down even though I still needed a wheeled walker, nebulizer, and assorted life support gear. Lo and behold, I could still Phuck! Not like I used to, but enough to laugh at the reaper.

Personally, I decided to scrap my limited USA future and move to CR full time. I found an apartment, sold my US holdings and got CR residency. There have been challenges but no regrets. The years since have provided the memory of hundreds of chicas I would have missed if I had followed advice of my doctors, therapists, and friends.

You make the decision right for YOU. But ask yourself, what do you have to lose? What do you have to gain? For me, I chose CR and specifically the SL because it was familiar territory. When I came down, my goal was simply to toast 1 year recovery at the back bar an pull a chica to celebrate. All the rest has been a bonus.

Go for it. You only live once. I'm middle 70's and still banging the 19 yo's. You won't be here forever.

been to jaco this jan for the first time and saw many 8-10's at the cocal. Most calls for 150ish and settled for 100. Few 9-10's asked for 300!
I would go back to Jaco for the beach scenery, surfing, exploring but hesitant for the high chica price.

I came back from Pattaya september and it was great. Walking street was alive, most agogo bars were open. LK metro area was fun. Most freelancer asked for 2000-3000bt. LK metro agogo bar chicas 3000-5000bt plus the bar fine 1000ish. Beer bars had some hot freelancers too. I can't wait to go back to Pattaya.

I'm planning to check out Medellin in November. Cheaper and hotter (some may argue) but no beach vibes.
If you're looking to just meet hot chicas and relax, I'd say go to Medellin even though I've never been there.

After reading your post I think you should go to CR.
You are familiar with the place, it is easy to get around SJ and Jaco is as good as it was if not better. Prices are higher but that is so anywhere. The MPs in SJ are fine with gringo favorites being Monicas, Relax, Oases and 360. Stay at SL or Castillio. The HDR and Taormina have enough free lancers for you to find what you want.
Medellin is up in the mountains, spread out and the girls use facebook and the tinder app. You would be a newbie there.
Thailand is a long trip.
After you return from CR you may find you could easily go back for more. :D :D :D

I"ve enjoyed this thread a lot. I appreciate knowing some of your backstories.

Wheres_Walter you sound like you have the right attitude to for your last hurrah. Stay at the Del Rey and your mobility issues will be largely addressed, and it sounds like you already have the kind of negotiating experience that makes everything else go smooth.

I've returned recently after a long absence, and though the venues have changed and what I want is a little different, my opinion is that CR is still what you make it. Come without a bargain-hunting attitude and let yourself go at your own pace without lamenting how it used to be, and you might be surprised by how much fun you can still have.

Keep us posted if you decide to come. I know I would be interested in knowing how things go for you.

I genuinely appreciate the vote of confidence everyone, I think I needed the boost a lot more than I even realized. I've definitely struggled not falling into frequent pity parties and have started to doubt all my abilities, especially in recent years. I was long overdue for a reminder that I'm supposed to be enjoying whatever remaining time I have on this planet not lamenting my days away. A trip to CR may be what I need to test the waters and just get my feet wet again because I've been out of the game a long, long time. Part of me will always regret not hitting some of these p4p utopias I never made it to while in my prime (Rio, Antwerp, Eastern Europe in general). On the other hand places like Medellin, Cartagena and Tijuana seem to experiencing some big resurgence in popularity and people appear to be enjoying them far more these days. Pattaya and Itaewon are cool but my experience in Asia has been very limited and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't partial to Latinas. Anyway, regardless of where, I gotta take the first step and climb back on the horse.

Boynton, the recounting of your experience certainly helped put things into perspective... I've been through the ringer but admittedly absolutely nowhere near multiple months on a ventilator while in a coma. That is some serious, serious shit and really made me take a step back and try to imagine how I would react if I came out of such an ordeal. I will strive to adopt a similar mentality that wherever I go I am there to celebrate with some good sessions and revel in the fact that I ain't dead yet.

Thanks again, guys

- Walt

Hola Walt. First of all you should definitely go somewhere. If you don’t and this turns out to be your last opportunity you might find that you regret not taking it for the rest of your life. So yeah, make that trip. Life is short.

As far as where to go I have a different take. I’m sure Costa Rica would be OK, but you’ve been there and done that and according to pretty much everyone on this board it is a shadow of it’s former self. Nothing against CR but as you don’t know if this will be your last hurrah or not might as well make it as good as possible.

If I was you I would strongly consider Medellin. Stay at the Mansion and even if your mobility is a major issue you don’t ever have to leave and you would still have a good time. You can take taxis door to door to restaurants, malls, and other places as much or as little as you want.

You’ll have other English speaking guys there to hang out with, the staff speaks English and the girls are there onsite. You’ll find chicas with better attitudes, better prices, and it will be a whole new experience. You might find you feel 10 years younger after the trip. And who knows, it may not turn out to be your last trip and maybe you’ll like it so much that you’ll find yourself returning again and again like many of us have.

But whatever you decide, go somewhere. You owe it to yourself. Make your trip and wherever you end up have a blast.

Thanks so much for your post--you vulnerability and your humanity. Frankly, this post reminds of of the type of sharing that was more common in the mid to late 2000s.

My vote also is the Mansion/Case Blanca/Whatever the Phuck it is called in Medellin. Get one of the better rooms, and it will still be about the same as a room in the Del Ray. Paisas (women from Medellin) are amazing. The Manion is super self contained with the exception of food which you can order or take ubers/cabs super easily. The prices of the women are pretty much less than half of CR right now, and in general are much better looking. These is a massive facebook scene of great women (feel from to PM me if you go and I will gladly share contacts based on your tastes). There are some great resteraunts if fine dining is your thing. Given mobility issues and that it might be a last horray, that is the way to go. If you are in Medellin between Nov 29 and Dec. 12th, I will gladly take you out for a nice dinner and anywhere you want to go. You seem like a good good.

Now if you do CR, finds permitting, I would book one of the better Jacuzzi suites in the Sportsmans.

Cheers.

Why not do both! Warm up in Costa Rica at Sportsmans or a hotel familiar to you. Check out what is available in the current local scene. If you are up to it, fly to Panama or Medellin for a second or third leg of the trip. I am 59 and my wingman is 73. We still travel all over the place and have a great time.

I would try Panama City and stay at the JW Marriott. There is a casino connected to the hotel and the chicas are very attractive(most from Colombia) It is a little more expensive but the chicas treat you well. You won't need Facebook or internet sites, just walk to the Casino ( you won't need a taxi) and talk to the chicas in person

Appreciate the further recommendations guys, it's all invaluable towards me making this trip a reality. Seeing lots of praise for the hotel M/Mansion in Medellin. The self-contained nature does sound quite accommodating (like SL or even like a mini HDR) especially for someone with specific limitations. I wish I could be more independent and adventurous to go out searching for under the radar gems but I have to face the fact that an obvious gringo who at his best is hobbling through Parque Lleras would hardly be a recipe for success. In addition to being the target of a potential crime aside, my drinking days are far behind me and barhopping when you're a fall risk ain't the party it sounds like...so most of my time would be strictly on site at the Mansion as it is. Anyone have any favorite rooms? From what I understand it is two joint hotels on a somewhat spread out location? The M1 & M2, the girls all hang around the M1?

Hank Daman, thank you for the genuine hospitality, I'll absolutely let you know if what dates I can manage to swing coincide with your late Nov/Dec visit. In general I'd love to meet up with some of the crew here. After glancing at some of your join dates I really wish I was on this website 15 years ago. Hell, even just being aware of this resource in general when I was first diving in to my p4p journey would have saved me a lot of time and rookie mistakes. Also seems like a lot of friendships and connections were made surrounding the community back in the day.

The Costa Rica -> Panama -> Medellin loop does appear enticing or even the reverse with the familiarity of CR as my last stop before I head back home. Panama I never really considered, just wasn't on my radar for whatever reason, especially a Marriott (which I assumed wouldn't be chica-friendly being such a mainstream hotel). Even totally outside of mongering it would be a cool country to visit and cross it off my bucket list.

A lot to consider but I'm excited for it in a way that I have not been in too long. Again, many thanks to all for the help, no matter how big or small it's contributing to giving me back a bit of the confidence I've lost surrounding traveling and hobbying.
