Thinking about taking a trip to San Jose next week. The thing is, I wonder if I might have problems, as this will be the 4th time in San Jose since 2008.

A little background. Every few years, I like to head up to Montreal for a weekend. I'm usually traveling alone, don't have any friends in Montreal. I just really like spending a few days there. Strip clubs don't hurt either ;-).

The last time I went up there (was my fifth time), I got stopped by border patrol. They started asking me all these really personal questions, like do I have Ch*ld porn (Christ no), did I travel there to have sex (never had sex, paid for or free, in Canada, didn't think I would that trip either), asked about previous trips to Europe and CR, and searching my bag. I didn't have anything illegal or incriminating on me, but it really freaked me the Phuck out.

Now that is Canada, Costa Rica is a different country entirely. The thing is, the whole Canada episode has me really freaked out. If I go next week; it will be my fourth time in CR. Should I expect to be interrogated as soon as I arrive? Obviously this hobby isn't exactly something we like to advertise about ourselves; I'm seriously afraid I'm going to get stopped by CR border patrol when technically I haven't done anything or plan to do anything illegal.

Should I be worried, or am I worrying over nothing?

If you haven't done anything illegal, I would not worry about it. The last time I checked, mongering in Costa Rica is not illegal... so go enjoy yourself. The friendly neighbor to the north is not as hospitable as it once was when entering. I'm headed to Toronto on Wednesday, I'll let you know how I make out.

Of all the people I pick up at the airport, I've never heard of anyone being harassed about mongering either leaving or coming into Costa Rica. I have heard about 'questions' on entry into the U.S.
Only problem I've ever heard of here was entry on a passport with less than 90 days remaining. They refused entry to the one guy with the almost expired passport while the other two continued on to Jaco. Think you are worried about nothing IMHO.

4 trips in 8 years? Whoa!!! You frequent traveler you. :P Just busting your balls.

In 2008, I did 13 trips, not one question. Others have made more trips in a short time period and not been asked a thing. As long as you don't post it on social media, don't start your own mongering website, or post naked pictures of Costa Rican women (with you in them) online, they don't care.

You will have no problems as long as you have a valid passport (to be safe, I'd recommend not going with less than 6 months validity remaining). Those Canadian tough guys were just fishing hoping to snag a perv.

In CR, you may be asked how many days you are going to stay in CR, and maybe where you are staying. But that's about it.

No need to worry.
