Hey Guys: I have been using the translation2.paralink.com site for some time now for translating emails from and sending emails to my novia. The problem with it though, is that you are limited to 500 characters and with the latinas propensity for very long sentences; well needless to say, it quite often requires multiple entries. Anyone use any others with success. I am wondering in particular about Google Translation. It appears that google will allow a larger text quantity, but doesn't allow for translation and then direct emailing. Comments Por Favor.

GM, try yahoo's translator in the yahoo toolbar. I think it will do a whole page without any limit on size.

Gringo Malo If you don't mind waiting a few hours for translation and spending a coulpe bucks. Try www.abtrad.com they use human translators and your emailed messages will show true meaning and emotion. DBCocker

I checked out your site and think its actually pretty good. First, while that link does limit you to 500 characters, it directs you to an improved version.The auto spell check is a great feature since mispelling is a common source of translation problems. I tried the back translation too. It didn't work for me, but I think that is another great feature not built-in to other translator. I always translate back to help check how well the translator worked. Sometimes, it reveals particular words or sentences that can be rephrased or tweaked for smoother translation. When you get down to it how well a site translates is the really important thing, not how large a text-block it can handle (unless you're prolijo) or whether it checks your spelling.

None of them got it that great, highlighting the basic problems with using any on-line translator software, but of the 3 I think the first one got it a little better. You can see why DB's suggestion about spending a few extra bucks and using an actual human being to translate makes more sense. OTOH, being the CHEAP perfectionist that I am, I'd probably cut and paste a little from each translation to try to get the best free version I could.

It is interesting to compare the google translation with the freetranslation.com version. Sometimes one is better than the other, depending upon the sentences you enter.

For conjugating Spanish verbs, try http://www.verbix.com

There is also a very good Spanish dictionary site: http://www.diccionarios.com/

but they ask you for dinero after 3-5 tries in one browser session.

I use paralink2 and http://world.altavista.com/

It's interesting to compare the results from both.

Altavista will also translate entire webpages.

ABTRAD is not that expensive 1000 words for $9.99 and short translations for as little as $2.00. For me it is important to get the real meaning of an email. If you read a computer translatation and a human translation of the same email there is no comparison.

I don't know if this link has been posted elsewhere, but I found it today. I have used bablefish.com for most of my letters writing, etc, but this site is much better in my opinion...

The only problem with paying $10 to translate an e-mail comes when you find out that all your novia was saying was how much she needs for you to send her money. It just pours salt on the wounds to find out that your novia is really like all the rest - more interested in what you have in your back pocket than what you have in your front. To go and have to pay for that kick in the butt, well...

Here is another thought. Do any of you guys know a chica with good english skills and an e-mail address that would be willing to do translations on the cheap? It might come out to even less than what the pro's charge that advertise on the internet.
