Worth going? I've heard from a lot of Vets that it is dead during this period.

What will be closed and what days would be great too.

Pick another time of the year other than Easter week. Even though some venues and gulch businesses will be open, it is a very slow time for a monger in San Jose.

I tend to disagree, sort of. If you're a point & click monger that likes to sit your lazy ass on a barstool drinking Imperial until "Miss Right" comes along then yes, things will be very slow or nonexistent on certain days. On the other hand if you're willing to plan ahead, do some leg work and actually enjoy experiencing other things a destination has to offer then CR can be a great vacation during that time. I've done 3 or 4 trips then and always had fun, it sure beat being stuck home in the snow. There were plenty of parades, festivals with bullfights (Zapote) going on, but I like that stuff- getting out in the middle of it with amigos and party with the locals.
As far as women the key is to simply find the lonely Colombianas, Nicas and Dominicas that will not be going home for the holidays and plan to hookup. Most will be thrilled to spend time with you and make some $$ on the holidays instead of sitting bored in their apartments missing their families. If you're considering a side trip to Jaco or any beach it's probably too late to get a room, I think half the country heads to the beaches after Christmas to celebrate the beginning of summer.

Never been to the DR during a holiday season... but, I would to be surprised if there was a p4p stand down in the DR as well. However, as PL suggests, if you are willing to do a little planning, and do a little work, CR during the Christmas may not be a total wash-out. I spent the 2007 holiday season in CR, but had a couple of girls lined up before I arrived for some fun outside the gulch. At the very least you will have some of the MPs to fall back on during the Christmas stand down.

All of the Tico MPs will be open except for Christmas and New Years days. They will usually be a little short on chicas-many of the Nicas go home for a couple of weeks- but with nearly 50 MPs to check out, you should be able to find at least a few chicas to your liking. Even the Tico Night clubs (strip clubs with short term rooms) will be open and will have chicas if you need something late (they usually get going about 10:30-11pm and go till 2-3 in the morning. As mentioned, there will be a few chicas in the REY and SL. There will also be a lot fewer guys competing for these chicas.

This will be my 9th or 10th Christmas here, and yes I live here and have plenty of contacts, but I have never failed to have a good time during any holiday period here. There is always something and someone to do!!!

I was told Zona II will be close the 21st to the 5th, and scores but I don't know the dates. I wonder how many other's are closing and when?

As I said, ALL the TICO MPs will be open every day except Christmas and New Years day. Scores and Zona2 are Gringo owned MP/bars/hotels. There are 49 Tico MPs in San Jose and another 20+ in the surrounding area (Heredia, Alajuela, Cartago, Tibas, Rhomocer, etc.)
