Well it looks like Del Rey's Big John is not sitting back in his rocking chair. It appears he has bought a 2nd property in Jaco, the South Beach Hotel I was just by there and took a look around the 34 room facility. Prices of the rooms are ranging between $79 for a standard double to $249 for the Ocean front suite. Price includes taxes and a killer breakfast. They have a huge pool area with a small waterfall. Also, they are doing a lot of renovations to the property and it appears Big John is pulling out all the stops to compete with the Cocal. I was escourted around the property and allowed to take photo's that I will post on the VIP members section. Stay tuned for more info.

I wonder if this Big John will impose a chica fee like with the Del Rey.

I would think it would be very hard to collect since all room are accessed from the outside, not in.

I'll be down for Halloween and was planning on 5 days in Jaco before I head to Cuba

it's up and running as we speak. Today had 8 rooms out of 34 occupied.

I am not familiar with the South Beach--is that down past Morgan's Cove around where Los Vagos used to be?

that is correct. Just past Morgan's Cove. Lot of greenery, gardens and it looks like it will be a well manacured property.
