I asked about Kindles a few months ago and got some good info from users who were able to use them to buy books, so I'm assuming that if I got the latest tablet I'd be able to use it as well.

But in researching it I haven't been able to confirm it, and was wondering if anybody had read anything or had experience with the latest model that would help me decide to take the plunge.

The original Kindle Fire works well for me at any open wifi location in SJ. I assume that the new Fire HD will work well too. However a lot of SJ wifi is much slower than we are used to in the states.
