This idea was hatched out of my long desire to visit CR solo to do something that my wife has no interest in. Even though that is my ulterior motive, I think this can still be a worthwhile endeavor to help those less fortunate.

I am looking for fellow mongers that would be interested in providing some financial support along with a site visit to a worthy cause or two. More importantly, I need someone with local knowledge to help me find such needy organizations (Lord knows there must be plenty).

I have sought to do this through existing NGOs but I need the flexibility to have evenings free and set my own schedule.

Sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong area. Moderators please move it if there is a more appropriate forum.

Anyone interested in participating?

It's unclear exactly what PyroJohn is asking about but know he's possibly wading into deep waters. CRT and specifically Brothers SantasBro and Orange set up something years ago to "adopt" and aid a local orphanage--that ended badly amid some horrid accusations from local officials:

I think you are better off finding some existing NGO or service organization (despite your protestations) as a useful and usable "blind". Feel free to ignore this advice.

It might help to know what issues you are most intererested in. There are many NGOs and charities. Some better than others, but you might want to pick an issue or two you care about.
