Does anyone know if phentermine is available over the counter in CR?

It's an appetite-suppressing drug similar to amphetamines. Available as a generic for many years. For more see this:

What does that have anything to do with the guys question? Everybody knows what phentermine is and that is the generic name, the brand is Adipex-P.

To answer the question, no, its not available over the counter in Costa Rica. Even Viagra is not available over the counter in Costa Rica anymore. Although many pharmacies have doctors working and you may be able to obtain a prescription on the spot if you are lucky.

And what does your 2 incorrect comments about (1) "everyone knowing what Phentermine is" (I did not know and I appreciate Jazzbo telling me!!) and (2) "viagra being unavailable over the counter here" have to do with the qustion?? Viagra (and the generic forms also) is available in virtually ever farmacia here except Fischel farmacias which are so overpriced I can not imagine anyone shopping in them!! I have never been asked for a prescription nor had to obtain one from the "in house Dr". Yes, under the law, I do believe a prescription is required, and maybe the "in houe Dr" writes one everytime they make a sale, but they have never involved me!!! And, NO this has nothing to do with the original question either!!

I appreciate Brother BB57's backup, cuz he understood the central point of my post. I was reaching out to those who may now or in the future come across this Thread and have neither the time or energy to research it, thereby missing out on a possibly helpful substance. Used by itself and with discretion phentermine can be quite useful in weight-control, especially in those situations where diet-change and a more strenuous exercise program just aren't enough but the extra weight NEEDS to come off.

I get in to CR late Thursday (9/2), so i wouldn't be opposed to going to see a doctor on Friday. My doctor here wants to sell a week's worth (7 pills) of phentermine at a time with a cost of $75 a week. My insurance doesn't cover weight loss medicine. I guess they want to wait until i develop diabetes and heart problems! I have purchased phentermine on-line in the past, 90 pills at $300 but I was hoping it would be cheaper in CR. Can anybody recommend a doctor that would prescribe phentermine at a reasonable price that i could receive while I'm there????

Yes, you can get it from a store and they will have a doctor verify the script. The new law to return to the US is now 60 days worth. So, have the script read twice a day. It might take awhile like a day or two. But it can be done. Just thru the drug store.

Sibutramina 10 mg is a prescription-only appetite suppresent in the US & is available at most pharmacies in SJO. I have bought many boxes for my wife while visiting my novia .

She is very happy with it.

Usually the company has a buy-2-get-one-free promotion. I usually buy at the pharmacy on Ave Segunda (SW corner) just down from the Presidente. I have also brought back many boxes for friends, though usually from Colombia, where it's cheaper. (BTW - in MDE, generic Viagra, 25 mg, is about $1.50 a box of 4 ~ 2800 pesos).

Went to the RX today. Purchased 30 pills at 30mg of phentermine for 18k per box. If anyone else is interested I went to the RX at the top of the hill from La Amistad.

Went to La Amistad pharmacy and got 1 pack of 30 Phentermine.
$10 US for the scrip, and $40 US for the pills.
Total of 5 minutes wait time. No hassles.
Pills are 30mg. I was gettng 15mg and 37.5 mg from the fat farm back home.

The box is blue and white, pills (caplets, actually) are red and dark gray, marked with small print text "Duromine 30". The box is also marked Duromine 30, Fentermina/Phentermine, and Appetite Supresant. The box is also marked "Sold by Prescription Only".

Since I brought some of the USA 37.5 mg with me, I am able to report that the La Amistad purchase works just as well as the ones I got back home from the fat farm.

Now, why the heck I'm trying to stick to my diet while on a week-long vacation in Costa Rica is another matter.... (The food here is fantastic!), but if I eat rice and beans, I'm screwed!! I've dropped 45 pounds in about 4 monhts, and only 20 more to go to reach my goal.

Anyone reading this who is not familiar with Phentermine, it works great. You are not hungry all day. However, you still do MUCH better with low-carb, at least some exercise, and cut the bad habit foods. Otherwise, when you build up a tolerance to Phentermine (effects less pronounced), you endup yo-yo dieting. Try to let Phentermine work as long as possible. I suggest starting with 15 mg for 5-6 weeks, then bump it up to 30 or 37.5 if you can get it.
