I just got out of the Navy 8 months ago......I will say based on my 4 yrs of experience dont count on that leave......after your 1 month of basic airman training stuff changes, I was supposed to get 3 weeks of leave after my MP school training (MAA in the Navy).... but once I got my orders I was told I had to report to my duty station...(Diego Garcia... which blew) in 5 days... so it might not work out...once i got there I was not able to take leave based on our schedule and lack of man power for 6 months.....since your a basic airman you will probably be on an aircraft carrier im guessing....my buddy did what you did and after 5 months picked an A school. It all depends after your airman school what orders are given to you.. if you get leave or not.....but I have to agree with some of the above post about the Air Force being better....we were in a joint mission with some Air Force personnel in Spain and while we were sleeping in tents sweating our ass off the were living in the Navy Lodge in contracted quarters...just seems like the Air Force took care of their people better....
