My experience at the SL has been outstanding regarding the liquor bottle. As a vodka drinker, I will buy a big bottle when I arrive for like $20 or so. They put your name on it, and stow it in the back. Then, when you want a drink, you just send the bartendress back to get your bottle, and whatever else you want to mix with it (I am partial to OJ or tonic water, with my V). Typically the mixer is only a 500c or so.

Last time, I drank like a MF'er for not too much money using this method.

BTW - True Sportsman is a stand-up dude, that knows how to facilitate a party. I was most recently in CR a few months ago, and partied my ass off in SL.

If I was looking to invest in CR, I would look for a place somewhere between SL and HLH. SL is becoming an low-key alternative to the HDR, and with Boyd running HLH, it will be pretty happening as well. I wish my money wasn't already tied up in real estate in the EEUU.

TT

Wonder how they make money off that. $20 for a bottle? I assume that is the cheap stuff (smirnoff)? But nevertheless, still less than $1 a shot. Dosen't even cover the costs to handle and store the bottle you would think. Is this available only for hotel guests and is it available for premium alcohols? Also is there a time limit on the bottle for storage?

I get bottles of Flor de Cana Rum at the SL and they are only a bit more expensive than the price at the grocery stores.

You buy the bar from the SL directly. You dont bring in your own bottle and leave it at the bar, thats just bad form. But then during your stay you can just order a coke and have your bottle brought to you, and they bring you ice and lemons, lime, etc. I think its great that they do that and much more economical over the course of your stay.

I think that a bottle is a few bucks more than you could probably get it more someplace else, but the factors listed above more than make up for. And even the markup wasnt bad from what I remember, 5 or 6 bucks maybe.

Maybe I'm missing something but just want to be clear I understand this correctly: If I specifically want to have on hand a couple bottles of Ron Zacapa Solera 23 (which is a $40 - $50 bottle depending where you buy it) and I know the SL doesn't carry it in stock will they go out and buy those for me or should I pick them up on my own and have SL put my name on them so that I can enjoy my favorite rum during my stay. Thx.

I would talk to or PM Brother True Sportsman (Bill) directly on this, the only one who can give you a definitive answer.

I would PM Bill on this
I really do not think he would have a problem with you bringing you own bottle... if SL does not have it in stock... but I bet he will have some if you let him know... If it is a rum that he can not get... he is not going to tell you no... just might want a sample or two :D

Bill is layed back and is happy if you are happy... and works hard for our bizz

If it was a bottle that they have in stock... different story

I have seen guys drinking Imperial from a can watching TV in the bar... clueless

Gary I am gunning for your job :D

Gentlemen,

For clarification, liquor bottles purchased at Sportsmens Lodge can be on the bar and stored at the bar. Bottles puchased elsewhere can be used in the rooms if you are a guest at SL only.

All the Best,

Bill

Good evening Gentlemen,
My first trip to the Sportsmans I too saw the bottles with the names on them. I thought what a great deal. Next trip in I puchased a bottle of Crown Royal at the Duty Free shop and brought it to the bar at the SL. (Remember it is my second trip please). I wish I could remember the girls name when I handed he my bottle and told her what room I was in to keep it behind the bar lol. The confused look a was of confusion. Well she put the bottle back behind the bar and the next morning I was the room name on the bottle and thought this is a great deal. I had several drinks that night got my bill which I thought of course would be not bad at all since I was drinking from MY bottle. Well to make a long story short it was not small as you can imagine. I didn't argue because of my condition (stupid and drunk) and paid the bill. Next morning the day bartender was there and I made an inquiry about last nights bill. She was so understanding and explained to me that I should have purchased the CR from the SL in if I wanted to keep the bottle there and drink from it. Made a great business case for the bar and me. I purchased a bottle from the bar and took mine upstairs to the room. That night I was drinking from MY bottle and only paying for it once not twice. For the past five trip I now buy MY bottle the first day I arrive and drink from it. We all have a learning curve at somethings at times mine is all up hill lol
Bill has a great place, the front desk will do anything they can to help you, the kitchen help works their butts off, and the bartenders are the best. See all of you in October.
Thanks for listening
Bobshere

Usually when a bar buys a bottle liquor at their cost it takes 4 to 5 drinks to pay for the bottle at the customers price. This might be a little high depending on the tax.
Thanks
