The above site graphs the declining exchange rate over the course of the past 12 months.

This one: http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from= ... RC&view=2Y graphs over the past 24 months.

So the exchange rate for one US dollar is about 510-515 colones. Is this what the Banks are selling them for? If so I need to make a new cheat sheat for October
Thanks

Colon/dollar exchange rate has been like a roller coaster ride for the past few months. Way to early to try and guess where it will be in October. When it gets within a day or two of your arrival go to the Central Bank of Costa Rica website http://indicadoreseconomicos.bccr.fi.cr ... nilla.aspx to see what the current exchange is. Even then it might go up or down 10 colones before you get here if the market remains as unstable as it has been the past six months.

Sign at reception read 500 - $1.00 a few days ago. I think that is their normal rate.

"Normal?" :?

Since the rates is about 510 today, I'm guessing, they are paying about 485-490. They usually have about a 20-25 colon commission.
