I will stop in for a beer and a t-shirt. Got to have the shirt... I buy one in every city I go to. Oh... The hottest looking hooters babe I've seen here in the states was a sexy 'lil thing from honduras. She looked just like alot of the ticas I know from the gulch. The hooters outfit looks good on these tan skinned girls. 8)

At one of the CRT Tampa chapter meetings, we had a very cute/hot waitress from Guatemala!

LionKing/ZORO...I thought you might remember her :D

Good news...I'm moving back to the area very soon! Perhaps we can have another chapter meeting in late December or early January.

I read this thread last night but waited till now to post so I could let my feelings on the subject settle a bit more.

While I'm always happy to hear about economic growth in CR, I think the 'americanization' of CR is something that should fought against. That sounds odd coming from an american citizen I suppose but I escape to CR to find a piece of everything that the U.S. is not.

I'm curious to watch & see how/if these types of chains will find success in SJ and, considering how well CAFTA has been received down there, if the locals will support it. Any thoughts from you locals?

No offense meant, but I don't think you can really refer to accurately as Americanization w/o sounding a bit like a GATT protestor or dinosaur hippy.

Allow me to explain my POV; Globalization is all about the value of the brand and has nothing to do with America except that America has a lot of good strong brands such as Walmart, , Outback, MD, Coke, Pepsi, Bud, etc etc. These brands bring value to the consumer and that is why they succeed. They also bring jobs to the economy. It is the same with any brand such as KIA Motors, Hyundai, whatever in the good ole USA. IMHO, they should be allowed to succeed or fail in whatever marketplace they find themselves in; that is the American Way and it has nothing to do with so-called Americanization. :D

I'm a bit confused. The Hooters next to the Courtyard has been open for at least a year & a half. I don't like it (slow service & higher prices) but my novia loves it, even though they won't sell her a classic waitress t-shirt. I had "heard" a 2nd Hooters was opening near Mall San Pedro but have no real info on that.

BTW - The Tona Roma's in Escazu is pretty good, though also expensive. The sliced beef BBQ sandwich was actually....tender.
