Ok so that's in the SJO airport?

In the baggage claim area. After you clear Immigration you go downstairs and enter thru a doorway into the baggage claim area. Take an immediate right turn and the ICE desk straight ahead near the restrooms.

One quick correction....

As of late April, Immigration is now on the lower level (same as baggage claim), so you won't have to go downstairs to get to the baggage claim area. You just go through a doorway into baggage claim and you can see the ICE booth on the right side against the wall near carousel #1.

Not mentioned above was the MagicJack. There's a lot of info here about that and I believe they work through netbook computers--small enough to fit in a cargo pants pocket. As was stated above unless there's something you absolutely need with a BlackBerry, leave it at home--just being a Gringo makes you target enough. Much as we'd sometimes like to think otherwise, CR is a 3rd World country and a wise man remembers that...always.

Yes, the Magic Jack will work fine with a netbook computer. That's exactly what I use when I travel - a small hand held phone ($10 at Wal-Mart) and a Acer 8.9" Netbook. Works like a charm!

Blueeye, I have an unlocked BlackBerry Tour which worked fine in CR. You should have received instructions on how to change your phone settings with your unlock code. CDMA does not work in CR. Your phone should work fine if you follow the instructions properly. Just remember to get a prepaid sim card at the airport.

Does anyone know if you can pay with dollars at the ICE desk at the airport? I don't want to exchange money at the rip-off place in the arrival area. Thanks.
