Nothing reported about it in the States. Selective news, I guess. Obama farted, that was reported!!!

and exactly why would a a 4.6 quake that caused no significant damage and no loss of life in Costa Rica be news in the U.S.? Do yourself a favor and register on the USGS site to get emails on quakes and see how many 4.6 quakes occur every day and see how many make the U.S. news.

i remember one time in the south pacific, we were steaming out of valpariso when we had a water quake.....we dropped down into a sea crevice and had to hook the anchor to the surface above us and winch our way back up.....funny thing was, all the damage seemed to stop at that equator line thing....soon as we passed the toll booth ($14.75 -exact change, thank you) it was smooth sailing again.

According to the newspaper, the earthquake occurred on Friday night at 10:49 PM along the Cipreses Fault in Sabanilla. It registered a magnitude of 4.3 degrees on the Richter scale. There was panic in neighboring communities in Central Valley of San José.

It was reported that objects fell (over and off the walls) in homes from Montes de Oca to Moravia. The Cruz Roja reported no injuries or deaths resulted from the tremor.

The earthquake was related to a swarm of quakes which occurred during the past week on the Irazu volcano near Cartago.

The communities of Siquirres, Pococí in Limon province as well as people in the center of Puntarenas, reported feeling the tremor.

I know it was felt in Cartago. I was on the phone when she said she felt the house shake. I just thought maybe she had her novio over ath the house. Guess it really was an earthquake. :-)

I live in Montes de Oca and didn't think anything was abnormal until
I realized the chica had already left and I was in bed alone.!!

One other hand was an interesting way to meet some neighbors as everyone gathered in the street to wait & see if a second shock was coming...

Seriously... got my attention... out of bed & into the street in less than a minute !!!

When I was in SJO over Superbowl weekend, I felt a tremor one night...light, but it got my attention...I don't sleep naked in SJO anymore. I rack out with enough ropa on to make a quick dash outside without freezing my bits and pieces.

I felt this quake while I was sitting at the Horseshoe playing poker. At first I thought I was just really drunk, but then found out it was the quake

AtlWingman and I were in a 7.1 in Honduras last year. Wingy thought he caused it as he was banging a chica two doors down from me (egomaniac). Stupid Wingy and I decided to take the elevator down to the first floor (oh well first earthquake). With all the news about Chile and Haiti even a 4.3 gets yo attention!

Peace, love, and rockin and rollin for all,

Don Rico
