I had a complete physical (highly recommend for all over 50) in December. As a bonus I'm having a colonoscopy this Friday, but that's another story.

The nurse was going to give me a "Hep A" shot and she dropped the needle. It hit me right above the elbow and also hit her hand. I had to sign a form so they could run an HIV test for both of our pieces of mind.

Needless to say it was negative.

If you have ever donated blood you have been checked for HIV.

Ace,
Yeah, I forgot about blood donations.

After donating for 18 years I was suddenly "referred" a couple years ago since I was stationed in Turkey in 1985!

It was due to mad cow disease. I sure hope all those people who got my blood didn't have any adverse effects.

At least the local blood bank has stopped calling me every 8 weeks.

LOL at the blood bank calling you!! those people are relentless!! I give regularly anyway, but it's almost pathetic the kind of sobbing voice they always use when they call me. so far so good (knock knock).

I tried to give blood, but when I checked the box that said "have you paid a woman for sex in the last year" I checked YES. They called me aside and looked me in the eye and asked it again. I said yes.....about two months ago. They said, sorry, come back in 10 months.

I said...sorry....10 months from now I will have phucked her ten more times!

I'm with Astro on this (for a change). I used to give blood regularly but stopped after I got into this "hobby" and they started asking those questions. I know your hearts are in the right place by donating, but there's a reason they ask those questions. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out that if you have to lie about your activities you might be doing something wrong. My understanding is that HIV can go undetected in the blood for the first few months after infection. The odds may be remote that you if you haven't been infected earlier you were infected only recently, but the chance still remains or they wouldn't be asking the question. Please stop donating and leave that act for others better suited for it. The Red Cross also takes cash donations if you still feel compelled to do something. Its one thing to put yourself arguably put yourself at risk by engaging in this hobby, its another thing to put someone else at risk no matter how slight you might feel it to be.
