I'm a fan of the "SURVIVORMAN" show on the Discovery Channel. I was surprised to watch it this evening and to see that the Survivorman was on the OSA PENINSULA in Costa Rica, equipped with only his camera equipment and a utility tool/knife. He spent a day or two on the beach in a lean-to, and then he decided to try to find civilization by hiking through the jungle, eating coconuts and lizards, :x and had monkeys throwing things at him . After two days in the jungle, he ended up back at the beach. He followed the beach and eventually ran into civilization.

I was shocked at the beginning of the show as he was describing the country, and I thought he said it was a country "run by dictators." :?

They didn't say if he ever ended up at the Del Rey. :P

I know that guy Bear Grillis (sp?) did a "man vs. wild" episode in Costa Rica. He went over the same points my tour guide told me when we went into the jungle, about how every year people get lost in the jungle and die. To bad they found out that a lot of Bear's show was faked.

I dont think Bear's show was necessarily faked. It is just a different concept from survivorman in which the Canadian dude is truly alone and without support and supplies and must survive.
Bear puts himself into tough situations intentionally and shows how to cope. He says this at the beginning of the show and also talks about his crew. He is a total baddass in my opinion and knows his survuval stuff.

They should have sent him into the Del Rey with a Cien note taped to his forehead, and nothing for defense except an Imperial.

Or better yet load him up on mega doses of viagra and set him loose in the Del Rey with the challenge being how long he can resist pulling the trigger.

IMHO I wish he was the one who had gotten lost and they found him weeks later. I've seen the show and the show is good, I just wish they had a different host.

I also enjoy those survival shows. But, I believe that Survivor Man is the best of the current genre.

Les Stroud has done some good episodes of "Survivorman", the one where he was at the Arctic circle was good, & the one where he was stuck in Northern Ontario simulating a plane crash survival (he had 1/2 of the plane's fuselage) in winter was quite good too.

No, nothing for sustenance except an Imperial and nothing for defense except a water bottle and a pen.
