My trip is coming up pretty soon, and I just noticed I don't have a camera or anything. I see a lot of folks talking about taking pictures and videos of their experiences, so I figured you guys would have a good idea whats good and bad for the money.

Anyone have a camera or camcorder that they have used and can recommend or know of a good deal on a product they have heard about?

If I can find something not too expensive, reliable, and good for a trip (not too bulky if possible), I will definitely pick one up.

Thanks for any info folks

Two trips ago got this little beauty, the Flip Mino HD. A phucking monkey can record HD on it. $200 bucks and you are getting HD video for the ages. I still take my DV camera and phone camera for quick dress up recordings of the chicas but when it comes to recording the real action I love the Flip Mino HD. You get full color details. I actually bargained it for a session with one of my favoritas but I always “borrow” it when I’m in CR so I figure the session was a freebie. The only drawbacks to it were the lack of zoom, it only has like a 2x zoom on it, and you need to keep the camera still on a small tripod or in top of a dresser or desk. The motion and shaking from hand holding the camera is more evident on HD. But you cannot beat the price for a HD camera.

Any of the Cannon SD series cameras are good quality/value cameras. Easy to use, 3” screen, takes good quality pics or movie clips and they are very durable. They are also a good size/weight for pockets. I have beat up my SD750 pretty good in the last two years and it still gives me great shots. Check www.pricegrabber.com to find the best on line prices.

With a population consisting totally of sneak-thieves...I always opt for the throw away cameras. But...to each their own.

I seriously considered the Flip Mino but, ended up with the Kodak Zi6. It also is small and fits in your pocket easily and records HD, HD60 as well. I think that either is a good choice. The Flip Mino has built in RAM for the video which is why I did not buy it. The Zi6 can take and SD card up to 32 GB (when ever they make em that big). The downside of the Zi6 and where the Flip Mino wins is with image stabilization. But, for me capacity won out.

Speaking of the Flip a new Ultra HD version is out with a 120 minute record time.
