Michael was a nice young man. He was always pleasant and I never heard him mad or say anything bad about anybody. You guys and the AM Costa Rica are assuming it was coke .He told me he was a pharmacist so maybe he took to many pills and ODed on perscription drugs. I have a friend who goes to a quack doctor and the shape he gets into some times makes me wonder when I am going to get a call saying ******* has ODed . Lets find out from the staff at the Morazan what type of drug it was before we assume. It is a good idea to remember that the coke in any form can cost you in the form of money ,jail, job etc. and possibly your life. I had a 3 year binge from age 27-30. Lucky for me I was over it before I started coming to CR. as I have not touched it in 17 years. I bought myself a Rolex watch for my 30th birthday for getting myself off of coke. I still have the watch. All that said it could very well have been coke but I am going to investigate more. Will let you know what I find out. I once met a guy at the Morazan who got on a crack binge and ended up selling me some nice brand new shirts he had brought along on his trip. I bought them so he could pay his hotel bill and his departure tax. Never saw the guy again. Any of you guys remember the guy who got on drugs and jumped out of the Del Rey window on the 4th or 5 th floor. Talk about checking out of a Hotel. Take Care guys the life you save may be your own. If I would have stayed on the coke I would have been gone long ago. It is very sad for I knew Michael and I say again he was a nice guy. RIP Michael. I will miss seeing your smile and shaking your hand and sharing an Imperial with down to earth conversation. It is very sad.

Page said it best:

Quote:
Spent my days with a woman unkind, Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start, Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there's a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane, never let them tell you that they're all the same.
The sea was red and the sky was grey, wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
as the Ch*ldren of the sun began to awake.

Substitute California with Costa Rica, and it pretty much flows perfectly.

And you can insert "stuff" any way you like. :P

I can think of worse places to die than Hotel Morazán. Sometimes I thought I died & went to heaven there more than once. RIP Michael...
I just hope he didn't take his own life trying to have too much fun. At least he found CR & enjoyed it for a while. Most men I know will never know what most of us know  .

Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones seems to be holding up pretty good after years of abuse.

True dat about KR (and for the most part Jerry Garcia and David Crosby), but then look at the number of other rock&rollers that didn't have his iron constitution, that tried to emulate his "life"style...Gram Parsons comes immediately to mind.

I agree one hundred percent. Actually I was attempting to be funny being that I really don’t think Keith Richards is all together. Have you heard him talk lately? He sounds punch drunk! lol

Oh yeah I know that Jerry Garcia is dead but look at the long run and years of self-abuse he had.

Jer-Bear died of diabetes. Although he used the entire smorgasboard of dr*gs, his main vice was weed, not chemistry.

I didn't know Graham Parsons died of coke...thought it was heroin. Jazzbo, are you sure this isn't a....rumor?

Not advocating cocaine use here, but let's not forget the huge difference in the body's reaction to/metabolism of coke depending upon whether it is snorted, injected or smoked. Smokers get the rush faster/harder than snorters, injectors get the fastest/most potent dose. Unless the blow is seriously adulterated (and lidocaine is a scary cut), the casual user in good health will probably survive the occasional casual sniff of cocaine. Anyone with heart, blood pressure or nasal health issues should avoid cocaine like the plague.

Again, this isn't to say that coke is "safe," but in this "war-on-drugs" era and McCarthyism-like fearmongering about drugs, one has to know the facts and keep everything in perspective.

Personally, I hate what it does to my mouth (puts it into overdrive) and my d*ck (puts it to sleep). Gimme ganja! :D

Did somebody say Ganja?

I'm thinking of getting a little college in Kingston and going 'Fari.

It's going to be a bit challenging, I imagine at first, for obvious reasons. But I'll give it the old college try.

El C--Sorry if I gave confusing poop on the Grievous Angel GP. Actually he was that smorgasbord guy--alcohol, toot and smack. The point is, it did help him kill himself, and about Mr. Garcia--he may have been mainly in the Brotherhood of Bongsters but certainly did more than experiment with other stuff. He was waay too heavy for a diabetic also--unsustainably in my ignorant opinion--of course depending on which type he had. At least they had some measure of fun in going, unlike that lead guitarist from who was it,Stone the Crows?, who was electrocuted on stage. BZZZT.

he did die from crack. That is why he wanted the balcony room so the crack smoke would not be in the hall. It is said to say his but it is the report.. Lesson learned Do Not Smoke Crack. What a waste such a nice young man.

Sorry to hear this, may he rest in peace. Does anyone know what room # he was in? I'm staying there in a few weeks and would prefer not to be in the one that this happened in.
